Madhatter
Hi all Just wondering if anyone has tried vinyl wrapping their engine cover? Would it work or does it get just too hot in there?
coldel
Would have thought it would peel to be honest, RTBiscuit will know
BulletMagnet
I wouldn't, heat gonna melt it I reckon
Zugara
Won't work.......
BulletMagnet
I mean you could try it out and report your findings. There are some that have stickers on the covers made of vinyl, so maybe it does work, just wouldn't want to say for certain in case it goes wrong
HaydnH
Not sure I'd want to test it and risk melted vinyl in my engine bay, could smell for a while! You could log the temperature though and then stick the vinyl in the oven at that temp and see what happens.
Madhatter
That's a bloody good idea! Was thinking of trying a 5x5cm square of vinyl on the engine cover (like a sticker!) first.
Greddy-Matt
I've got some spare hexis carbon finish, happy to bung some on and see how it fares if you like?
rtbiscuit
vinyl will withstand the heat, the decals i've done for brake calipers hold up fine to the heat. the issue you might have is if the heat soften the vinyl and makes it move/lift reshape etc. decals are fine as they are flat, but your going to be stretching it to fit. Madhatter
Ah that's a good point especially with the curves on that top!
rtbiscuit
i suppose the easy thing is to try it, worse case scenario you have to peel it off
DoogyRev
Maybe worth having a play with the flat surfaces of the cover and see what you can some up with. Hasn't AmyZed got a funky engine cover? or was that painted?
BulletMagnet
AmyZed's engine cover was sticker bombed.
