lead7
Hey everyone! I'm new here. I have a 2008 350Z. Here is the problem: When talking about the air conditioning/heating. Whether the fan is selected to be on high or on auto, it does not blow as it should. About once a minute I hear the fan try to spool up but it never makes it to full speed (or even half) before it stops entirely. As far as I can tell, it seems like the temperature of the air that comes out of vents is appropriate to the setting. This Summer, the blower motor broke (it was a hardware problem where it was making a ton of noise when running). I replaced the blower motor this Summer and everything worked great for a while. Now it's doing this. When I hear it try to spool up nothing sounds strange or broken other than it doesn't blow, as discussed above. Any suggestions about things to try or what may be wrong? Its cold here now and it will be really hot soon.
spursmaddave
First thing is to check the white ribbon cable is properly connected behind the gear knob. If the contact is not 100% it does strange things...
Zugara
As Dave said, but go over all your connections to ensure a good fit. Sounds like a loose plug somewhere.
lead7
Cool thanks for the answer's I'll give it a shot. And let you know what happens. Any tips on removing the cover of the center console to get to the wires?
spursmaddave
Not sure on the 2008 but on my 2004 it just pulls up, grip in from the centre where the gaiter goes in and give it a good hard yank....
mc
I had a problem with an erratic blower a couple of years ago, if its not the connections (ribbon cable) then it could be either the white control box or the dials that are faulty. lead7
Well, I got it fixed. Here's what it was. It turns out the blower motor resistor was not working. The resistor, is located inside the blower motor and is part of the same assembly. This means you need to replace the whole blower motor. So I replaced the whole blower motor again. (Lifetime warranty because I had already replaced the original for a different reason.) 3 screws and a plug later the problem was fixed.
