elfman
I think with the deleting of usernames it's for people who've never posted and not visited in years. I think the forum does so well because it's got many many nice people, usefull information and the odd nutter And most chavs haven't got Zeds to degrade them (yet)
Vik54
Could you not generate some 'rule' that would only delete accounts that has been totally inactive for say three years? I am no techie - have no idea what would be involved, but maybe you could generate something that deletes an account if user has neither logged in nor their ISP lurked for 36 months. Send one email to registered email that says you can re-register anytime. Three years no lurking and no loggin in would indicate death or absolute disengagement. Although then again I suppose you'd have to re-issue all T&Cs to all members again before you could instigate this wouldn't you?

One thing to consider is plus if a member may end up returning to the forum after 3 years and there account has been terminated then it gets messy with new accounts. I dont see any problem with how it is

I dont see any problem with how it is its because there is so many unused account with names people may want. Why not send a group email for everybody to confirm and then the ones that dont just delete. Suzuki oc terminated mines after a year of not logging on
Lexx
I don't really see the need for adjusting/removing inactive accounts at the moment. I don't think there are enough usernames that others may want to use to justify the work Chris would have to do to a) initially code it and enact it, and pi**ing around with the forum everytime we updated the software. If we were up at 20,000 members then maybe this would be worth a look and the hassle.....but if we were up at 20k we'd have a larger admin team and more available time to do it
