Integrated phone kit

I just bought a 350Z last week. I ordered a few extras but surprisingly I also got one I didn't expect or order. The dealer installed the integrated phone kit by mistake. However, I have not got any instructions on how to set it up and connect. The main manual shows you how to use it once connected. Does anybody know where I can get any information on how to connect the phone and which handsets it supports?

Thanks for any help.

Okay. I'll dig out the digital camera when I get home and take a picture. You could be right as it does look like it may be a holder. Are these installed by default? I ask as there appears to be an additional speaker just under and to the left of the steering wheel as wellas what looks lie a microphone mounted on the windscreen by the rear view mirror.

Am I right in believeing the pre-installed element is the THB Bury Uni System. If that is the case then there are literally loads of cradles available supporting nearly all phones including Bluetooth.

Is it just that Nissan are encoding the system and so limiting the handsets that can be used. I have sent some queries in to Nissan Customer support to see why they are doing this if it is the case. If this does seem to be true then I'd encourage others to badger Nissan to see if we can get them to support all the other cradles that are already available. There may be a way to get the unsupported cradles working as one dealer I spoke to advised me to go to Carphone Warehouse as they may be able to help with cradles to support other phones.

Send queries to Nissan and see if we can get them moving or you may have to wait another year!

unfortunately mate this is a lost battle :(

many many many members of the old forum tried this with:

NMGB

TH Bury

with no luck.

Cradles are encrypted somewhow as to not be compatible with other newer cradles for newer phones that you could buy from THBury themselves.

NMGB was asked (even @ a focus group where I participated) to update these about 2 years ago and nothing is being done..... :(

I resorted to keep my old T68i in the car, to use the handsfree

Thanks for the info.

I can sense this has been a major frustration for many already and I am only just learning about it now. Still I've had the car just over a week now and this and the petrol cap release button going through the dash on first use are the only issues so far!

Seems like a forlorn hope but I'll give it a go anyway. Someday they might see the light. Seems daft on such a good car to annoy your customers by not giving them something which is already readily available technology. Especially as in press releases there are often comments on the integrated phone technology.

Maybe these same sites and journalists should be contacted to point out the limits Nissan have imposed?

I just got a response back from TB in Germany which may be useful to some Motorola handset owners. See below.

  • 4 weeks later...

I had similar problems with my Nokia. Orange came along with a "compatible" cradle for it and guess what, no go. The monkey from Orange wanted to do all kinds of things to power it up, I told him to go away and ended up buying a "proper" one from Nissan which worked straight away.

for 3 times the price.

I am having problems too  I can't seem to find either the cradle to fit a Blackberry 8800 nor can I find the correct Bluetooth option! I written to Nissan customer services though...I'll let you know what they say.

Cheers

You just need to buy a standard Nissan 350z bluetooth adaptor. They'll pair with the blackberry easy. See the answers to your other post :D
