Dave J
Hi guys, Well i'm finally back in a 350z after a few years in an RX7 then NSX then RX7 again Started reading up a little about re-mapping the Z, being an NA engine i'm wondering is it worth the money to do so? All replies welcome!! Dave.
captain
For me, the D1 Spec throttle controller is better value. Have both on my JDM and still have the D1 on most of the time, even after a re-map.
Mark@Abbey m/s
Captain, your car is an auto so the throttle remap isnt a defined as on a manual car. The BHP/TORQUE gain's are normally around 10bhp/10lb/ft but the main gains come fromt he mod range torque and driveability the cars gain after a remap of the throttle map. The dyno plots dont show this.
M13KYF
the remap will remove the limiter though
Mark@Abbey m/s
Yes sorry forgot that , so on a JDM car the speed limiter still working , your get a remap and the limiter removed for not much more than fitting a SLD box. I can just remove the speed limiter thou without tuning the car , this cost's £250-00 inc vat where as a full remap on our in house dyno will cost £402-00 inc vat , with before and after dyno plots. Dave J
I'm not overly worried about the limiter as i need my licence for my business but the improved drive does sound good Dave.
Dragonball
Fitted my D1 throttle controller today and very noticable the difference in feel and, frankly, enjoyment. (suspected future potential increase in petrol consumption aside - which frankly is not why I own a z) I was going to go for the re-map, and may well do so still - but at £25+ per HP gain (with Berks /Y-pipe etc) at present I cannot justify it... The 'problem' with the Z IMHO (having owned 500HP R33 and Soops before) has always been in the crappy first to second gear ratio... this feels much improved and as a result I am much happier with the car now!
