Ekona
Its not only technology, the drivers really lack character nowadays, no real battlers out there, almost refreshing to see Hamilton upsetting a few drivers. I disagree, I think there's some massive characters out there right now both in terms of what they will/won't do to gain a position as well as their actual personalities, the trouble is they're so media and team-order controlled that we're never allowed to see any of it, and when we do they only get pilloried for it sadly. Massa vs Hamilton... Massa actually interrupted a hamilton interview last year to argue with him. Brilliant! Im a really big MW fan too... probably the nicest guy in the sport, and arguably the best overtaker in F1 (the pass at Spa last year...!!) docwra
F1 used to be tremendous, Mansell always up there, Senna tearing up reputations when he first came in, Irv the Swerve! Great characters and a proper battle out there on the track. Thats your rose tinted glasses talking my friend. Back in the day the McLaren/Williams would **** off to the front, team orders would mean the top car would lead till the finish and there was next to bugger all overtaking apart from lapping the guys who paid for their seats. It really was a procession, regardless of how you remember it. This year youve got 5 World Champions in the mix, everything up 10th being competitive, tyre management coming back in ........ in the first four races of 2011 there were more overtakes than a full half of the 2010 season and that was much better than the year before. People can tell me that its boring, but you cant claim it used to be better in the 80/90/00's because quite simply it wasnt

JetSet
I like most kinds of Motorsport . I've been following F1 since the days of Stirling Moss and have attended many GP's since my first one in 1972..TBH I can't wait for the season to start again . After F1, Indycar racing and The World Touring Car championship are the only other ones I get to watch these days. Then there's the one off races like The Bathurst 1000 and Le Mans which I make an effort to watch. Not that keen on rallying though, the drivers have great skills but you can attend a rally and have absolutely no idea who has set the fastest stage time, who is in the lead etc. I also watch Moto GP when I get the chance, its very exciting but desperately needs bigger grids, the 250 races are much better. This year youve got 5 World Champions in the mix, I make it 6...MSC, JB, SV, LH, KR and FA. Pete
Parsnip
Tough one. If the GT1s were still at Le Mans, then they would win it hands down - the big Saleens, DBR9s and Corvettes were good for a giggle and thrown into the mix with the prototypes and GT2s, they were fantastic - seeing one of the Audis flat out through Dunlop going past a corvette popping and banging on the overrun going past a 911 at night is one of those sights that is burnt into the back of your eyeballs (and eardrums!) for a long time. On their own, they do leave me feeling a bit cold - any time I have caught GT1 on telly I have thought "hey, this is watchable, but nothing special" they look a little slow compared to how they look in real life and without the other classes to dice with that they had at LM/LMS, something is definitely missing. F1 is a bit like background noise for me - it is one of the best things on TV, but that isn't saying much - I like watching it for the whole package, of which the race is a small part IMO - F1 is there to watch the build up, watch the start, eat Sunday lunch and then watch Vettel win. I like both, don't really love either - Porsche supercup or ALMS/LMS when they are on are the best motorsport has to offer IMO, loads of "real" overtakes (unlike the DRS "fake" ones in F1) and plenty of bum clenching driving goes on - some of the overtakes have you wincing and thinking "this could get very expensive"
