HI looking at getting the geometry all set up properly. Just wondered what to expect to pay and where are recommended places to go?

I am in Crawley nr Gatwick so Abbey Motorport isnt tooo far away but just wondered what the other options were?

Thanks

Will

Bog standard alignment could be done for under £100, but for a decent setup I'd be looking at twice that, perhaps three times for the very best. Abbey would certainly be my choice in your area, but if you fancy a drive then Dixon at DMS in Erith have had my business in the past and would do so happily again.

Hi Will

Abbey did mine few months back, total bill was £120 inc the dreaded VAT. Even better, Scott collected the car from me on his way through in the morning so I didn't even have to leave the house :) ...

cheers

Bearing in mind that difference in cost can be down to whether you just want the wheels all pointing the right way and within OEM specs, or whether you deliberately want them out of spec to achieve a certain handling characteristic. The first one is easy to do and any Quikfit monkey will give you a result on that, it's knowing how a certain model reacts to the latter changes that makes a higher price worth paying sometimes.

For example, I'm off to a place in Warwickshire next week for an alignment on the Porker to my own personal settings, and the guy is well known as the specialist in the 911 community in the UK so I don't mind travelling for the best, neither do I mind the £300 bill if it makes the car as good to drive as I know it will.

I had a quote from Abbey just yesterday and it was crica 140 quid for a custom alignment - they add a little extra read tow-in compared to the Nissan spec and they say it makes all the difference. Since they're on your doorstep it's a no brainer imo.

I live in Hertfordshire and will be getting them to do mine within the next week or so. I was going to go this weekend but my son decided to have something called a '16th birthday' so it will have to wait another week.

If you get it done before then I'd be interested to know how it works out for you.

Since we are on the topic of alignment - how frequently should it be done? My car was spot on about 2.5 years ago but I assume it goes out of alignment over time with pot holes etc?

Chris

At least once a year, if not every 6 months depending on the roads you drive.
