Shinjuku
Which of the aftermarket exhausts are known to be reasonably quiet. Obviously most if not all will be louder than standard but im just wondering which are known as "sensible"? Thanks Shinjuku

Neilp
Scorpion comes into "just perfect" category couple with decats IMO No drone just a nice purr. Quiet until the foot is planted
Shinjuku
Thanks guys. What are the right vendors for these / how much do they cost. I suppose tarmac is one. Any others worth a look? Also my own reading made me think that a k2 would feature in this list. How do these exhausts compare to that system? Thanks Shinjuku

Shinjuku
Thanks tarmac 800 is probably a bit high to be honest. So, how does the scorpion compare to the standard system sound wise? Also what do you think about neils suggestion about the decat. Do you hold suitable ones for sensible money. Ive read the decats can sometimes make a rattlely noise particularly under load. Is that right? Thanks Shinjuku
Neilp
Decats make a hissing noise when the load is taken of around. 3krpm, if it's a daily driver then go for hfc's. I wouldn't recommend decats for a daily as the risk is much higher of getting emission tested. Scorpion is slightly more raspy under load than the oem but videos online do not do it justice. Try and tag along to a meet as there will be loads of exhausts on show. Scorpion comes with a lifetime warranty also.
Bakes100
Tarmac how would you say your Tanabe compares to the invidia and scorpion noise wise? Similar, or is it night and day

Tanabe was very very loud with HFCs, Scorpion n Invidia are much more refined, pound for pound the invidia is the best bang for your buck imo.. PickledSushi
Tarmac how would you say your Tanabe compares to the invidia and scorpion noise wise? Similar, or is it night and day I actually have Tarmac's old tanabe with a stillen y pipe on my zed now and I think it sounds just right. Nice deep growl when you step on the loud pedal but quite civilised when driving normally and not droney on the motorway. I guess with HFCs it might be a bit too loud though
Chris`I
So what is wrong with k2 ? poor fitment And poor build quality. And poor customer service from JapSpeed if thats where you get it

coldel
I hear that K2s are hit and miss, some people have no problem some people spend a lot of extra time and effort to force them to fit. I do get somewhat confused really as if you have gone to the trouble as a business to build and sell exhausts for a particular car why not make them the right shape? In my simplistic view of the world it is surely as much effort to make it the wrong size and shape as it is to make it the right one Milltek is a good quiet exhaust when you need it to be - loving mine - and I was looking at many exhausts. I was worried it wouldnt give the Zed a sporty tone but it works lovely, and Berks going on next week Just took a quick vid last night, had to not really rev it too hard as I didnt want to wake the neighbours! Sam Mcgoo
The Invidia G200 True dual is definitely worth consideration when after a quiet exhaust. They are pricey new, but if you can get one second hand it would be well worth it. The build quality is amazing. The early ones had mid pipe silencers and are very quiet when ticking over, cruising and general driving about. Invidia actually got complaints that they were too quiet! So decided to remove the silencers from the mid pipes on the later versions. I have an early one (with the mid pipe resonators) fitted and with HFC or decats it sounds amazing when at WOT but just about audible when cruising. Of coarse the Supercharger makes it a bit louder but I've also run it with the Supercharger disconnected and still sounded great. I'm sure I put some vids on here somewhere. Edit - Here are a couple of vids; viewtopic.php?f=62&t=47824&hilit=+exhaust viewtopic.php?f=23&t=41886

HFC's would make pretty much any exhaust louder, they are like Viagra for an exhaust Everyones idea of what is loud is different, I found the Buddy Club with bungs in too loud but others say it is fine with bungs out or even with HFC's

spursmaddave
Buddy Club sounds awesome on track with no bungs, but yes its f'in loud! Some so called 'friends' on the forum persuaded me to drive home from Dorking with my bungs out.... I think that's what persuaded me to change it for the Milltek

spursmaddave
I went for a 5 min drive with AdrainK with his bungs out - that was enough for me Try a 40 minute drive home Only plus point was at one stage I was behind some of those pikeys in a horse and trap type thing and it REALLY p****d them off when I went past I did go through the Dartford tunnel with the bungs out and it sounded like I was in an F1 car I miss the sound sometimes but I just couldn't live with it on a daily basis, it was the vibration more than anything, it used to settle down at motorway speeds but it never ever went away Anyway if you want a REALLY quiet exhaust then buy a 370z
