Hi All

Recommended Posts

Purchased my zed back in April of this year and have been lurking in the shadows on the forum but thought I'd take the plunge and join in. Pic of my car below although not at its cleanest.

As a starter would appreciate everyone's input on the following discussion that I've been having with a good friend. It started as a discussion on thoughts to going down the twin turbo route but raised another alternative, fitting twin superchargers. I appreciate that there are supercharger kits already available for the Zed, however this would be more of a custom approach.

The idea at present is to take two mini cooper eaton superchargers (one per bank), mega squirt injection system, modified camshaft pulleys to take an extra pulley wheel, fit a waste gate to the plenum charger (may require custom plenum), low compression pistons, cylinder head work, possible valve enlargement...this is when we decided that there is probably not enough space in the engine bay to accommodate and therefore wonder if its viable.

I'll add at this stage I'm not mechanically minded and this descended from what he is thinking of doing to his moto guzzi v7, either with a down rated eaton supercharger or uprated supercharger lifted from a peugot scooter .

May be flogging a dead horse with the idea but would be interesting to hear folks thoughts on whether this would be viable option.

the money it would cost will be crazy i reckon and it would be a specialist job... much easier going twin turbo but be prepaired for 15k + bills mate. Its the bottom end that needs work on the zed. Why not do an ls3 conversion or the likes?

Welcome to the club.

Your plans sound interesting to say the least, but unfortunately I don't know anything about the parts you are suggesting so can't give any constructive advise. It does sound like a lot of hassle and £ when there are suitable turbo/supercharger kits already out there. But if it's viable, go for it.

Hello and Welcome

Low compression with a supercharger? Don't go to low they don't give that much boost - go to high (like me) and spend all your time worrying about detonation lol

IMHO you would need a lot of custom intake and plenum work in a tight space to run twin SC and probably not get much if any more boost than a Vortech V3.

TT is the way to go for big boost figures as Neil says.

FI is a slippery slope and not the cheapest hobby to have, great to see a different approach and I will watch with interest if you decide to have a go....

Good luck
