skidder
I got my 54 350z welded at the flange today. On driving home it seems on a low idle, about 400 rpm(you can feel it needs to be higher).I got out the car and I can now hear hissing but not from the joint thats welded.I'm guessing they've cracked the exhaust somewhere? advice much appreciated. skidder
I presume when warm it should idle about 800rpm?
Zugara
I presume when warm it should idle about 800rpm? Is it a hissing or a sucking
skidder
a constant hissing but not from where it was welded. cheers chris
Zugara
Have you opened to bonnet to see if its coming from the engine somewhere? Did the hissing get better or worse as the car got hot?
skidder
its definitely coming from underneath.Seems sort of around the same level whether hot or not.Just before I dropped it off I swear it was running about 800 rpm and never missed a beat.now seems to settle at 400rpm and doesnt seem to be happy at this level. cheers
Zugara
I assume the revs are stable and not hunting up and down If you can get underneath you should be able to find out exactly where its hissing from, perhaps the y pipe bellows have split. skidder
Any idea what is the rpm supposed to stabalise at?
skidder
Unbelievably it was the air-con off that was causing the low revs.Sitting nicely at 800rpm.Just took it out for a major blast and seems all good. Hissing is still apparent though.I'm pretty sure the garage took it for a spin though as my fuel trip computer stated 10 miles less than when I dropped it off, the cd player had changed discs and tracks, and the air con had been switched off.Blighters eh!! will investigate tomorrow. cheers
