Cheesypuff
A couple of times since the weathers gotten colder I've had a fairly loud squealing noise when I first start up. It's only for a couple of seconds and I've only noticed it do it from cold. I had all new auxillary belts fitted in the summer and wondering now its got colder if they need tightening? Thoughts? Dblock
Most likely need re tensioned or tightened. Unless your doing short journeys in which case the squeel is just water coming off them usually.
coldel
Changed my belts a couple of months back, got them proper tightened, but yeah the weather suddenly is colder and for a few minutes in the morning you get intermittent squealing - goes after a short time though so just assume it is damp or something. rabbitstew
Doesnt the belts have an auto tensioner on them, or is it just on my HR engine it has that?
ds2000
Belts need tightening for sure. Best to get it done, while its impossible on this car I had an alternator belt snap on my 306 mule which took the cambelt with it. It hardly squeaked and looked fine before hand to my annoyance as well. French rubbish!
