Dblock
Hi guys, Need some advice. I have used good year gsd-3's on my clio and they where pretty good. Now I have the choice of going for some cheaper Vred's SESSANTA which ive used before and they are ok. Now the are ok and I dont have much to compare them too on the 350z. But I didnt get it on that long ago really and they already on 3mm. So My choice is vreds SESSANTA or goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2. The Vreds are about £100 cheaper all in. Now what I want to know is 1. what gives better dry grip b. Which tyre last longer? The 350 is my daily and its mainly dual carrige way driving or some town driving. But if its dry and I want to take it to some B roads I still want some decent grip. All opinions are much apprciated.

Mega
I'd suggest the Falken FK 452s as an alternative to the sessantas. Similar performance. Possibly slightly longer in the tooth though wear wise. Both are good tyres. I've never rated Eagle Assymetrics at all personally, so really don't see why you'd pay extra for them.. rtbiscuit
i use this website alot to look at tyres, the general public bits need to be takne with a pinch of salt, but you can look and see what each review drives etc. the best bit is the direct links to all the tyre reviews done in magzines and on line etc. with stats etc. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Goody ... metric.htm http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Vrede ... ssanta.htm http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Falken/FK452.htm what tyre size do you need? if you put that down i might be able to give you some other cost effective options. I never trust tyre reviews as someone driving an elise could be comparing tyre wear to a jeep and so on. Mega, I use fk452 on my mum and dads car. They are ok but no way id put them on the 350. Ive tried the vred's before but they seem to wear to fast for my liking.
Dblock
Im looking for 235/40/18 and 245/45/
rtbiscuit
Im looking for 235/40/18 and 245/45/18 i'm just off out but i'll look later, as for the falkens, i ran them on the S2000; and i now run them on the jag, and to be fair they are pretty bloody good....but....i would pu that down to the low profile i have/need for both cars, meant the tyre wall was/is extremly stiff. but the compound, and wet and dry grip have been brilliant. on stock rims i wouldn't pput falkens on the zed as with the 45 profile i think you get to much movement. but if you're running larger 19" rims then they're worth a punt. just from browsing camskills quickly the hankooks are all pretty good http://camskill.co.uk/m61b0s322p63448/H ... 95Y_XL_TL_ http://camskill.co.uk/m61b0s322p15229/H ... 95Y_XL_TL_ as are the dunlop sp sportmaxx http://camskill.co.uk/m61b0s322p73082/D ... _A4_S-Line also worth a look are uniroyal rainsport 2's but they have a soft side wall. will post up more in a bit. dragon
I've used vreds sessanta's on 2 audi's 1 quattro 1 s-line estate, they are good tyres, in wet and dry but wore out very quick!! i put a set of falken 452 on 2 weeks ago on the z up to now i have been very happy with them, but i'll have to see how they wear, i too looked at all the threads on tyres lots of opinions, but i think the main question is not what is the best but how much youv'e got to spend and try and get the best for your dosh, imho

I personally like both tyres and they both give rougly the same grip in the dry but same as yourself the vreds seem to be very soft. I know thats what gives them their grip but if the goodyears are getting just as good grip but wear alot less its a winner. for 4 tyres the goodyear f1's are about £150 more expensive but they shouldnt wear as quick. I know its abit silly but I dont really rate the hankook's. I know the v12 are ment to be good and when my tyres need changing on the clio il give them a punt but on the 350 I like to stay with tyres I know. Im still getting to grips with the car and keeping it preditable is a big thing for me. At the moment ive got some vred sportrac 4's on the clio and they seem quite good. Rainsport 2's are epic in the wet but so so on dry. I had some of them on my 106. Falkens are ok IMO. Much better than your crappy stuff like wanli or even stuff garages put on cars like federal and firestone. But they dont suit my driving style. I also think lack feel. They are though now the vreds arent in stock in alot of places excellent value for money. Ive had falkens on my mums and dads last 2 cars. My 106 also had some ziex912's which werent bad considoring they where sub £30 new each.

rtbiscuit
personally i'd stick the eagle F1 asymetrics on they pretty good. or if you're not worried about cost, as they are a little more, i'd put either the continental sport contact 3s on or the michelin PS3's on. Looking around the internet people are saying the same as me. Grip on the vred's are awesome but they are wearing away quickly most likly since its a soft compound. I think the goodyears it is
rtbiscuit
sounds like the right thing to do.
