sukh13
Does anyone run aircon all year around? I was just wondering that since the engine is so large, the strain of the aircon compressor can't be that great. Anyone know what effect aircon has on mpg? Thanks
spursmaddave
I very rarely have the aircon off and on a decent run I have had 34mpg Round town etc I get roughly the same as everyone else round here... between 23-26mpg

sukh13
Anyone tested on and off to see if there is a difference?
spursmaddave
Probably a slight difference but if you are worried about 1/2mpg here and there then a Zed isn't really the right choice...
Vik54
Quite simple really - if you don't have it on you will suffer with condensation to the extent you won't be able to see where you're going

Summer - Aircon for cooling down Winter - Aircon to see where the feck you are going
sukh13
I was just pondering, I am gearing up to join the Z club and want to make sure it is a good choice. At the moment, I have a 5 mile commute so low MPG isn't a problem, but I worry that the car will suffer from the short journeys.
Vik54
What short journeys? Once you've got it you won't be able to stop It may only be 5 miles to work but you will find every reason to go out for a spin

I get 20-21 mpg if i don't do any longer trips. That's with the aircon off. If you're bothered about mpg at all, you should buy something else tbh.... sukh13
Im not taking the mick, but the post you quoted I clearly said I am not worried about low MPG? I was worried the car won't get up to full temp and things will slowly start going wrong!
spursmaddave
Don't worry about things not heating up, a Zed gets hot pretty quickly
DoogyRev
I find the Zed is one of the quickest cars I have had to get up to temperature ..... especially on the rear with the heated seats on

Can someone not have a b road blast then expect decent mpg on the motorway or the likes? How many miles do you do a year?

Fun fun fun. I managed 50s in the M1 contraflow up towards milton keynes. The zed is fine. London commuting just sucks ass.

I just fill up and drive and then fill up more when it runs out. Just hope the bank account funds top up quicker than the car runs it out
