SteveW
Hi Folks, A random for Q for a car forum but I've trawled the net and can't find anything so before booking an appointment at the docs I thought I'd ask on here. Basically last week at work I knelt down to take a photo mid kneel my right knee made a popping sound and suddenly I got a sharp pain in my knee. This subsided after about ten seconds but for the rest of the day my knee was aching. Well the ache persisted for a couple of days and then went away. However, now when I bend my leg unloaded or loaded,or try to kneel down etc my knee pops and sometimes the sharp pain returns. Additionally I can feel something moving around inside the joint when I bend my leg this thing 'pops' at about 90 degrees. Also when walking the inside of my leg at the knee joint aches. If I'm sat for a while with my legs bent at 90 degrees ish my knee also aches. Any ideas? I'm normally really active, football, basketball, gym, running, cycling and now I'm just buggared, I can't do anything... Thanks Steve
DoogyRev
Its no good, your gonna have to have it chopped off I'm no doctor, but that sounds like a cartilage problem........ I would go and see one
ChrisS
Sounds like a torn cartilage. But I am neither a Dr. or physio. Just crap knees/cartilage, that were operated on in the early 80s
Clarkie
Sounds similar to when i tore my cartilage. Go get it checked out. I ended up needing keyhole surgery and they found out i'd snapped my ACL too Good news is once i got operated on i was back to normal. glrnet
Ditto, didn't have the torn ACL though but the keyhole surgery sorted it out. Mine "popped" while kneeling as well. Make an appointment buddy Sounds similar to when i tore my cartilage. Go get it checked out. Ricey
Cartilage mate. Had a partial cartilage removal and acl rebuild myself. If you'd snapped your acl you'd know about it and it usually involves an impact on the side of the knee or a bad twist. The popping is the tear in the cartilage moving round. Most important is to stop impact exercise straight way...fixed resistance machines and swimming only. Half a day in hossy quick, clean out and trim cartilage....week off work (or 2 if manual job) 3 months of good rehab (no footy or jogging for full 3 months) loads of propreoception work and your right as rain. Probably a load of arthritis in 10-15 years....but who gives one. You may find Sprint training on grass really helps you to get back to footy at end of rehab as it helps with the lateral stability. Ian
I'd go with cartilage aswell. I've got the same with my ankle, just waiting for work to OK some time off paid so I can get it operated on

However the most important thing with rehab is movement back in the joint ASAP so I'm struggling to understand the plaster? My ankle is frigging ruined at the mo I'm too scared to go the specialist in case he tells me I need another bloody operation.....2 knee ops is more than enough thank you! No footy for 6 weeks now.....its driving me mental
Ian
Ankle for me Really not looking forward to it, trying to put it off as long as possible The rehab is after the plaster comes off, he wants me to spend 6 weeks in plaster doing feck all

Been through it until its drilled into my brain......my mates also literally just had the arthroscopy for cartilage tear so I've been guiding him through it. For what its worth Steve his symptoms were exactly same as yours, especially the pain in the inside leg middle of knee where the medial ligaments live. He had a bad tear and had to have a lot of cartilage removed......more they remove the quicker the recovery but also the bigger chance of arthritis in years to come

Could understand if you were doing ligaments too. Bloody bony ass structure the ankle though. My ligaments are sore as hell where they meet the bone....just praying they're not damaged....3rd time I've done it now
Ian
Yup just cartilage. Ligament is damaged a bit aswell but hes not bothered about operating on that as it will heal with rehab.
jumping350
Ankle for me Really not looking forward to it, trying to put it off as long as possible The rehab is after the plaster comes off, he wants me to spend 6 weeks in plaster doing feck all pretty stupid suggestion to do that but in most cases they just do it for prevention, ive rolled and snapped many ligaments in my ankles as im a basketball player never had it in a cast at all, if they do put it in plaster will become quite weak while in there...from my point of view if its not actually broken it shouldnt go into plaster..you will be suprised how far R.I.C.E goes!!!if you do it properly.Your cartilage prob would have stretched then and because you keep walking on it is just continually reaggrevating it so thats prob why he wants you in plaster With the knee it does sound like cartilage problem and i would refrain for bending down at this point and like others say impact sports...likely hood with the amount you do you will need it shaving and possible microscopic tear of one of your ligaments so keeping it microscopic is key till you get it sorted...you both will be back to norm in few months dependant on your physio

jumping350
how did you do that?? Bunny Hole? ........ sorry should not laugh looks painful looking at that i would say it needs to go in a cast not seen brusing that low down before and ive seen numerous ankle injuries, not much you can do really without always aggrevating it especially with injury in two different places
Ricey
how did you do that?? Same way I did this to same ankle in 2009......playing footy and mid pirouette some git went through my ankle when it was planted on the floor.....whilst the rest of my body was going the other way. jumping350
that bugger would be on my hit list, you always get some muppet that does that really annoys me no need for it. Prob some very severe impact on your cartilage and mini bones in there hence the deep bruising. Your a trooper going this long but go get it sorted if there is slight bone damage you want it in correct position before it heals and resets. Think the quicker its healed the quicker you can go snap back the guy who did it

I'm trying some work on the wobble boards but your right, all is not well in there. I've got private heath care but I'm being a miser and refusing to pay the 100 excess at the mo I think i'll bite the bullet this week.
