TheGrinch
Is there a way to check the condition of the dampers when they are still on the car? Is there a typical number of miles/years when they start to wear out?
marzman
Look for leaking fluid from them for a sure sign that they're shot. Also a visual inspection of the rubber mounting at the top of them should also give a good indication of the life left on them.
Zugara
Push down a couple of times at each corner, the car shouldn't bounce. If it does, that shock's gone.
Darren-B
Let me drive it, I`ll let you know how good the dampers are On a serious not, do the above, but if you have a damper gone when you drive over bumps the car will tend to sway/wallow about. If your still unsure take it to your local MOT centre & have it checked properly
R35LEE
Let me know if you need any. I have loads from sub 1,000 mile cars so they are virtually new
