djtimo
Guys just a quick one really. Any one fancy a trip to the ring some time next year? Ive been looking at a route for the people like me up north and this looks like a good option? The last leg D to E would be a route there for the people down south? http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=chester&daddr=Unknown+road+to:A16+to:50.44213,6.93458+to:N%C3%BCrburgring,+Nuerburg,+Germany+to%3a%50ark+Crescent%2FA4201&hl=en&ie=UTF8&sll=52.053475,2.066305&sspn=10.521586,19.709473&geocode=FSKjKwMdYdPT_ylp9Zxi2cF6SDGf-NiNs2xiSQ%3BFVQfNAMd9nL7_w%3BFbprGAMd0j1FAA%3BFZKvAQMdNNBpACkp40qG8Kq_RzHR7WUC1dQiEw%3BFaQRAAMdlgpqACGoNLZfAqkeLQ%3BFZ4uEgMd5L79_w&vpsrc=0&mra=mi&mrsp=5&sz=6&via=3&t=h&z=6 This is the girls version of a road trip as its A LOT less driving than the euro tunnel option. The people from down south that this is not the best route for could meet up en-route to the ring? Spend a night or two at the ring and then a fast cruise back to calais for the sutheners or back via zebrugge for the northen lot? Just post up if you fancy the idea as this is just to get some basic numbers to see if we have enough interest to run a little club trip over there. Any one who has been before that would like to chime in on routes and places to stop over on the way home for a night then post up! Im thinking a night over in bruges or brussel would be nice? Would be a great trip! Just looking at some options. 1, P&O Ferry from hull leaves at 21:00hrs and gets to rotterdam at 8:45hrs drive to the ring 210-220 miles 2-3.5hrs (depending on autobahn crusing speeds! lol) 2, Arrive at hotel at the ring around lunch time, check in eat and make our way over to the ring. 3, Soak up the ring atmophere (may be a cheaky lap or two? Or ring Taxi to get a feel for the track?) 4, Few beers and dinner at hotel/resturant 5, Wake up to a full breaky and a day at the ring! 6, More beers and a later night (if you don't want to drive the ring again in the morning that is!) 7, Full breaky before leaving to head back towards brussels or bruges for some sight seeing? 8, Leave bruges/brussels around 18:00hrs and head back to rotterdam/zeebrugge to pick the ferry up at 21:00hrs. 9, Tea on the ferry and a night in the casino on board maybe? 10, Dock back in Hull around 08:00hrs and trundle home after a great trip! Any one fancy it???? The other option for the guys coming from the south is you guys could get the eurotunnel across the channel and meet over in france. So far we have the southern team and the northern team! Southern team route http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Rue+de+Verdun%2FD940&daddr=N%C3%BCrburgring,+Nuerburg,+Germany&hl=en&ie=UTF8&sll=50.7645,4.546095&sspn=4.294977,8.448486&geocode=FaJbCQMdjAwcAA%3BFaQRAAMdlgpqACGoNLZfAqkeLQ&vpsrc=0&doflg=ptm&mra=dme&mrsp=0&sz=7&t=m&z=7 Northern team routehttp://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Schieweg&daddr=N%C3%BCrburgring,+Nuerburg,+Germany&hl=en&ie=UTF8&sll=50.7645,4.546095&sspn=4.294977,8.448486&geocode=FV58GAMdiBpEAA%3BFaQRAAMdlgpqACGoNLZfAqkeLQ&vpsrc=0&doflg=ptm&mra=dme&mrsp=0&sz=7&t=m&z=7 Calis to the ring is 303 miles on the planed route above, should take about 4.5Hrs. Rotterdam to the ring is 213 miles on the route above, should have that done in about 3Hrs with no traffic! The two routes meet at Kerpen, the people coming from Calais will travel down the E40 and this meets the route from rotterdam 61 down to the ring. We would convoy down the 61 for about 60 miles in to Nurburg
ianphampton
I'd be interested, subject to when you want to go - I'd prefer a weekday at the Ring if possible as it would be my first time and I've heard the traffic there at weekends gets busy - could we make the Ring day on a Friday - adds an extra day, I know, but what do you think? I'm planning on going to Le Mans in 2012 so would like to leave June out - funds not being unlimited, if I'm going to Le Mans lets do the Ring in a different month Ian

marzman
Could be interested on this depending on dates... I think driving from up north down to the chunnel would be a better option though... the Hull ferry was quite dear last time i checked, and it's an extra 2 nights away... Wasso
I did the same kinda thing on the Garwich ferry, but then you wake up nice and refreshed, instead of legging it from the ring and driving further when you get home. I prefer the night boat just because you can make more holiday and relax.

Thats why i went there and back in 36 hours, all the way from Manchester.
Gudzy
I'm potentially interested depending on how much and when it is. I'd definitely prefer the OP's way of doing things as I'm only an hour and a half away from Hull. I've never been but that sounds like the best way to me. ianphampton
When I had a Sales Rep in Holland (in a previous life) the Hull Ferry was always the best way to go - you get a good nights sleep and arrive there refreshed, breakfasted and ready to go. I 'd vote Hull Ferry every time for the trip going out - but sometimes the timings don't work so well on the way back, and it's possible to chunnel it and save a night away if you're in a hurry to get back

ianphampton
I'd prefer May or April ( May 1st choice to reduce the risk of a wet lap) (but April would be OK if that's the choice of everyone else) I'd prefer NOT June as I'd like to go to LeMans and would like not to cram both events into 1 month . . marzman
I might struggle for this actually as im going to the F1 in Monaco in May... and then to Africa in September... so cross me off the list, but i'll keep an eye on things and may re-add myself if things change. andlid
good man keyser, djtim. Stick me down there, need to figure out how to get time-out, hopefully not a problem. I'd prolly go down to France directly and meet up on route to the ring. End April or start May would suit me best, dont think I'll be able to move June onwards ANYWHERE There is a bike trip planned for End April, pending that I might be out...
