Removed
looks like a decent piece of kit indeed..... thanks to 350z-tech.com Before dyno (stock Z): After (with Helix prototype exhaust): Comparision: http://www.350z-tech.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13472&hl= sound clip: http://www.gruppe-s.com/Promo/helix350zexhaust.wav Gruppe-S are the vendors who posted this
StephenG
Shiny! Also, I never knew the Z delivered 0bhp at 1700rpm
Removed
yeah that dyno thing looks a bit iffy tbh..... look @ the final figures as well... 210whp IS a bit low for a standard Z isn't it?
toykilla
depends on the type of dyno they used.
Nick U
Now that looks like the sort of thing I need on the back of my Z, esspecially as im thinking of going for the Helix cat pipes. Does anyone know the best way to go about ordering one of these Helix systems? And has anyone had experience odering parts from america? Removed
I've ordered a lot of stuff from the US, as long as you use a reputable source, you'll be OK. Suggestions are Performance Nissan, Z1 Auto and more
Nick U
Cheers, I take it there is no difference with the exhaust fitting, being wrong side drive over there? Nick
Removed
exhaust is the same PS ask gruppe-S directly whether this one is available yet...
Nick U
Cheers buddy, Im in contact with gruppe-s via e-mail, they say it's availible and currently finding out about shipping costs, but they provisionally said it wouldn't be a problem to send one over. I'll let everyone know how I go.
Removed
great, possibly first Uk car with a helix product too (that we know of) let us know Also, how much are they asking for it and shipping?
Nick U
The cost of the exhaust is $649 (£364). Of course the shipping is going to be a little expensive I would imagen. They havent got back to me yet about that, but as soon as they do, i'll let you know. There website is good, not sure if anyone has mentiond it before. http://www.Gruppe-s.com
Removed
wonder whether it's a cat-back system or not, by the low price (and pics) i don't think it includes a Y pipe of sort
Nick U
Yeah it's a cat back system, no Y-pipe. They also do the helix hi flow cats for $499 and there own Y pipe to fit the 350Z for $275. All in for the Y-pipe, Helix hi flow cats, and Helix cat back system it will cost $1423 (£797). That sounds quite good to me. Think I might go for the lot to save on shipping costs. They say with the whole lot you will be looking of gains in the regon of 20-30 bhp at the wheels without loosing any low end power. Not sure how accurate that claim is though! Removed
possibly a bit overoptimistic on the gains side imo.... careful about adding VAT+customs duty as it will amount to quite a bit . as a guide add 25% to your total. the cats seem expensive actually. the rest sounds on par with other exhausts... Removed
update from Gruppe-S http://350zmotoring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36949 "We have dynoed the production verison of the Helix Power 350Z exhaust today on a customer's car. The car has a COMPLETLY STOCK exhaust system with a JWT Popcharger and no other mods. Because of some controversy last time, we decided to take the HIGHEST baseline number and couple with the LOWEST delta number. This yielded a 5whp and 7 ft/lbs gain. There was a run hitting 7whp / 10 ft/lbs gains, but we left that off as to avoid controversy. Again, a completely stock Z with an intake!!! Honestly we feel this is a very nice exhaust system as the system is TOTALLY STREETABLE it's only a bit louder than the Fujitsubo systems, and no where near the loudness of the straight through / dual pipe systems like the RSR, etc. Yet it makes solid horsepower gains, about the same actually as the RSR system. And you really can't beat the price for this type of quality! Our Dyno - Before everyone tries to compare dyno numbers with dynojets, our dyno is a Mustangdyne 4WD chassis dyno. It's a dyno which simulates real-world conditions, which means it applies a loading force (in this case ~3500lbs of load) and spins all FOUR wheels through a connected driveshaft. The force is the same inertial force applied onto your car when accelerating (hence the 3500lbs), and the 4wheels are spinning to keep the VDC systems happy. 210 whp horsepower for a 350Z is completely in line with a 280HP car. The 300HP Subaru STI makes about 220-225whp on our dyno, the 280HP Mitsubishi Evolution makes 210HP, and the 500HP Dodge Viper GTS makes 377whp / 423 ft/lbs on our dyno."
