MLC35
Just moved the car from the street onto my drive (10 metres), and now inside the car smells of petrol - its really strong smell... never happened before in nearlly two years of ownership, got the neighbour to have a sniff and he was shocked too. What could cause that? J.
HassanZ
My dad had this issue with his Mercedes, it turned out to be a leaking/corroded fuel overflow pipe. This could be something completely different though
MLC35
leaking/corroded fuel overflow pipe could be something completely different though i am actually a bit worried about this, how is the smell getting into the car?
Zugara
Did you reverse the car???? Doubt its anything, just running rich for that initial start up. Thats the exhaust being sucked into the cabin....
bronzee
Silly thought, but you didn't step in a puddle of petroly water did you, then into the car?
Keyser
I had this problem for a couple of days - but could smell petrol from the outside as well once or twice Turned out to be a tiny split in the fuel line see viewtopic.php?f=11&t=50546&p=735787&hilit=+chip+my+nails+#p735787 3rd pic down. Hopefully nothing to worry about but I'd check.
MLC35
Thanks for the thoughts. did check my shoes out of "dog poo instinct" and it wasn't something i stood in. I have copied keysers pics of the fuel line, and went out to check... Only to find the missus has gone off to the swimming baths in the 350z - I am hoping to see her again (the Z that is) The minute she gets back i will be out sniffing and checking that fuel line. J.
