ben@RARE RIMS
Just thought I'd add this to this thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... lYEMH10Z4s
coldel
I have a set of standard Zed 18 rims sat in the garden with some worn summer tyres on, seriously think I should put some winter tyres on and take my Volks off over winter, what size tyre is recommended? They aren't the Rays or 17s, they are the standard 6 spoke 18s.
ben@RARE RIMS
Well we can get close to standard sizes I believe, it depends to a degree on your budget as you get more choice if you can run to spending a little more generally, as is always the way
coldel
Well we should have a Shed to run over winter, so will only be taking out the Zed on occasion really so not thinking big budget if I can help it. Am not clued up on winter tyres, just wondered if you had to run identical tyre sizes or if it differed because it was a winter tyre... ben@RARE RIMS
Ahhh ok The winter tyres are just like summer ones in terms of sizing
coldel
Cheers I wondered if you had to run lower pressures or anything so have different sizes. Will be back later date to maybe snap up some hankooks - have deliberately held onto my standard rims for winter.

coldel
Looks good, although not sure how he could have had 'all idiot controls on' and then 'spun the wheels frantically'...TC would have not allowed wheels spin I would have thought. ben@RARE RIMS
It depends on the system I guess? I know what you mean though
coldel
Doesn't say much for a Ford Focus TC system...I remember being woefully stuck in the snow on an equally tough hill last year in my Astra, there was no TC button in the cabin and I only discovered it by chance, to turn it off I had to hold down the Sport button for a few seconds. Then I span like crazy as I inched up the hill...it was a nightmare.
