OBD - USB Interface and Software

Hi,

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I did try searching!

I am looking to buy a USB-OBD interface, and some software for the usual code reading and resets, but would also like to be able to log/view realtime data, e.g. AFR, Ignition Advance etc. The choice is bewildering!

This is not for use on the zed, as that's still got warranty on it, but more for the wifes Pug 207, and others in the family.

Can anyone reccommend a decent interface and software? I would be looking to use it with either a Win XP or Win 7 laptop.

Dave

Puegeot are a funny one.

Some pugs (my shed 406 coupe included) can only be read by using Peugeot's own diag software - Peugeot Planet.

I'd double check that yours is a) OBDii and not EOB, and B) that general software can read a 207.

Thanks for that Lexx - I had a feeling the Pug wouldn't be a straightforward one.

Unfortunately I can't find any documentation to prove what protocol the 207 uses, but as its a 2007 petrol, it should be EOBD compliant I believe!

The ELM 327 seems to be the most common interface available, does anybody have any experience of these?

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks Chris, good to know they work.

What software do you use with yours?

Dave

I never really found one that I really liked, just did a few trials of different software. I did use a program called DashCommand, but that was for real time display on my carpc. On my laptop I had ScanXL which was the bigger brother of DashCommand. Give them a google and see if you like them. Also check out mp3car.com, I havent been on there in years, but they do all things carpc so will have the latest and greatest software linked on there.
