slimjim
Found this laying in my drivers door... looks like some sot of rubber window trim... Anyone know if it is from my car? And if so, where it is supposed to go?
Vik54
Looks like a bit of the rubber trim that's along the top of the windscreen - you probably find its had a new windscreen at some point

Vik54
You mean actually INSIDE? As in behind the door card?
slimjim
You mean actually INSIDE? As in behind the door card? I mean inside as in behind the door card AND the metal sheet. Properly inside...
Vik54
Must be from original manufacture then - could be anything obviously just left there by accident - I'd put it back where I found it - just being a sentimental female
Iwantone
Disposal of industrial waste is a very expensive thing here in the UK and I guess it is too in Japan. Just think of the cost savings that could be made if it could all be hidden inside cars in areas where few people go to discover it! This could catch on. Wasso
Might take a look inside my door trim, might be some weight saving to be made and free of charge at that
BulletMagnet
I'm gonna take my doors apart too, hoping that the car belonged to a mob boss at some point and stashed millions of £££'s in there

andylb
If it was put there by schrodinger, then it didn't even exist until you took the door card off and saw it.

Wasso
I reckon it has something to do with Dynamo - you know the street magician.... he's somehow magically put that rubber seal in your door card. That's like Magic but you didn't even know it!!
Iwantone
Look at your 3rd pic, Slimjim. In cross section you can see 2 half round cappings at 90 degrees to each other. These are obviously made to cover up the joints in something that do not quite touch each other. Does that help? I've been on many car assembly lines in my time but I've never seen the assemblers cut any trim mouldings to length before they fit them. Everything is so precise that any trim pieces would come in ready cut. It is, therefore, very unlikely to be an offcut from something. I'm sorry I can't help you further.
