tez162003
Looking for a shed. Just crashed the 1.2 R reg corsa, silly silly women driver pulling across moving traffic, clever.... so need a new run around. What its needs to tick is: Cheap (not a penny over £1500) the cheaper the better though. Good on fuel, diesel or petrol (i do mainly motorway miles so a 1.0 petrol would be useless) Half nice to look at I guess (okay maybe a quarter decent to look at) Ideally 3 doors And just a cheap to maintain car. Easy to work on, And no 350,000 mile examples of a fancy car just to fit into the £1500 limit lol What sort of car would you suggest? I am actually rather stumped : / Thanks guys
coldel
In the same boat, wife wants a little run around, I am looking for something under a grand. Seen a few Nissan Almeras actually, look like a decent purchase?

Bockaaarck
I'd probably go for a Peugeot 406 HDI if I could find one, probably pick up a 2000 -2002 for £1 - 1500 on the 100,000 mark. Not exciting but comfortable, reliable if serviced regularly and will probably keep you running around for another 60K without too many probs

Beau
hmm A MK4 Golf tdi. You can get one for about £1500 in decent condition. Good on performance, and excellent on fuel economy 60mpg + . I know you say your budget is 1500 but if you stretch that to about £2000 you can get a good one and the fuel economy will just repay you. I own one and they are nice cars, not much goes wrong, if anything!
LRF4N
I was close to buying a shed and wanted something cheap reliable but with some street cred as some of u may know I hate bangers lol How about a 1.8 celica? Might not have the economy u need but certainly better than most and ticks all the other boxes http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2941837.htm

coldel
Im going to rant... When are AutoTrader going to start banning adverts that look like this: Ford XXXXX £995 2001, 80,000 miles blah blah blah sale price is £2000 not £995 Deliberately putting cars into lower price brackets like that. I think there is a trade descriptions act going on here, it is for sale at £995 or whatever the lower price is and listed as that - so therefore they must sell at that price. Lots of traders doing this now on AT, should have their ads removed.
notfub
I'd stay Jap and go for a Honda Civic like this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3104928.htm Easy to work on if needed and extremely reliable based on my CRX experience (have a CRX track car that is driven hard and has never missed a beat).
