JackStrong
Hi Got a few threads about issues with the car atmo When driving to work in the morning my engine has an extra weird noise running, a higher pitch moving/rotating noise that gets louder when accelerating. I think its the belt but figured I would ask on here first. The noise goes away after about 4 miles and I dont hear it when Im starting to drive back at the end of the day. Anyone heard of this problem before ? Cheers

mick-the-bull
I have recently started to get this too. In the mornings when driving for the first mile or two, I get a whirring kind of noise sounds almost hydraulic- like a pump cavitating. This happens between 2500 and 4000rpm and disappears within two minutes, as the car heats up!!!!
glrnet
Could be belts which are know for it in the colder weather. Might be an idea to check belt tensions too.
HEADPHONES
+1 on the belts. Had this on my other car. Was expecting a new alternator needed as it sounded like this was the origin. Nice honest garage said it was just the belts......no cracks just a bit shiney. Strange thing is though, on the zed my belts were cracking like a trooper but gave no audible sign of wear and their true poor condition was only the visual cracking
