C.J
Hi. Instead of starting a new topic, can those in the know confirm my noise in normal too? I've just recorded a 45second clip. The rattle is only heard when the clutch pedal is 'UP', when pressed down the sound disappears. Your comments are appreciated New Clip; (Phone held inside, with window open) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wmgqxz_Xts Old Clip; (Phone held under car, near front wheels) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88vyj335_us

Have you got the standard flywheel or a lightweight single mass?

Your comments are appreciated Youtube Vid; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88vyj335_us Certainly not a normal noise that should be heard on a standard flywheel/clutch with the pedal up (if thats the case)! Sounds awful.
Ebized
CJ/Neilp This thread started as a 370 query and the issues with the 350's are not necessarily the same. Unless you think otherwise, I suggest you start another thread

C.J
Sorry, I'm on the phone, and replied to a topic I thought was similar, didn't realise it was the 370. Any idea what it could be? I thought by pressing the clutch, and the noise going quieter was the flywheel? It's a standard fly, and the phone was held under the car so is quite loud (more so than stood up). Ebized
Thanks Dave One that got left behind during the split: Its even more noticeable if you change to an lightweight flywheel
C.J
E.g this topic appears to detail the sane as me. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=37974 I'll get another video tonight, from normal head height.
C.J
I've just updated the video on post #1. I've taken it from inside, with the window open. It's not as bad as holding the phone under the car, but you can just about hear it. It's not enough to bother me, but it's not something I've noticed on previous cars. The car had a new clutch and flywheel in 2009, going by previous service history.
HassanZ
From the inside, the noise sounds very similar to mine. I'm not sure from the outside, as I've never stood outside the car whilst the clutch is being pressed/depressed. When you switched off the car, mine makes the same type of rattle sound as yours did. spursmaddave
How many miles has the car done since it had the new clutch? If you are absolutely sure its a standard clutch & flywheel Then it doesnt sound right, if its a lightweight one its fairly normal sounding... C.J
It's done around 8k since the new clutch. I'll have to get in contact with the seller, as the docs doesn't say what brands were used. Hassan, have you had your's looked at? Any idea what it is, or what damage it could cause?
D4XNY
Isnt it the release bearing which is being noisy?? Mines same noice, but i've got a lightened flywheel, i just ignore it now....
trackpig
This is the same noise mine was making. I had the clutch and fly replaced and is now spot on. The springs in the flywheel had compressed in mine, the rattling is the two sections of flywheel hitting each other as they are no longer cushioned by the compressed springs. (on phone so hard to give better explanation)
Dove32
Mines same noice, but i've got a lightened flywheel, i just ignore it now.... Same for me
C.J
The strange thing is, the noise isn't noticeable anymore (unless I'm simply not listening for it), I also dip the clutch when turning the car off, so the slight rattle isn't heard. The under-car video certainly makes it sound worse.
waltzinblack
I thought that noise was normal? I get the same rattle (albeit a bit quieter) from my car, and the same little rattle as you turn the engine off. I always thought it was normal to just have a rattly sound and clunky transmission on the Zed!? New clutch fitted around 8k miles ago, new flywheel 5k miles ago from main Nissan dealer. Neilp
The rattle when switching the engine of is normal. All the rattles are normal. The zed has a very noisy drive train. So much so that it sometimes is embarrassing.
marzman
This is exactly the same noise as mine with uprated clutch and lightweight fly...
