geoff-r
The unimaginable has happened and I've lost the service wallet for my Audi A3 which has the manual and service book in it. It's an 03 plate TDI Quattro and I'm wondering what I can do to rectify the problem. I normally wouldn't mind if the car was more than 10 years old but I consider the service history to be quite important especially as the car has full service history (audi I think as well) and has 125k miles on it. Can I track it down any way and get a replacement book? Any ideas appreciated. Also what is it likely to do to the value of the car? I plan on selling it shortly. Lexx
If you know who has been servicing the car (especially if it is an Audi dealer) they will have your records on file. Most will issue a new book (at a cost) and stamp up your service book for the services that dealership has carried out.
geoff-r
Do you know if their records are centralised? I bought the car a year ago so I know the history since I bought it but to be honest I wouldn't know which Audi garage it was serviced at prior to my ownership. It's so annoying considering I had the book when I bought the car and now its just vanished!
Lexx
I have no idea if it's centralised. Since many of them are franchised, I would very much doubt it. But then again it's Audi, and those Germans are damned efficient.
EH 370z
Audi Service History is held on a computer, so you should be able to recover it. TBH, as long as you have all the recepits which they can print off too, the book is not that import, and they can be quite expensive for what they are. If you are struggling, let me know, I have a few freinds in the Audi world. NB this is assuming that the garage has updated their computers!! martinmac
All Audi centres are linked to a computer system called DIALOG, which to be honest is very old and not much good. It will only tell you when a particular car was last serviced by an Audi dealer and who carried out that work, it will not tell you exactly what work was carried out. The dealer can bring up the service history regardless of where it's been done, but for any other dealer they only have a basic summary, not the full details. geoff-r
Cheers for the replies guys. I'm really going to struggle to remember where the car had been before I bought it. I think it was up north somewhere although I can't be 100% sure and that doesn't help too much. I suppose knowing the troubles I might run into trying to dig out this service history I might have to turn the house upside down to see if I can find it. I suppose I'm lucky in the sense that I didn't file away the V5 and last MOT with the service wallet.
EH 370z
Does the number plate start with an "N"? If so being from the "up north" ( ) It could be a car from North East Audi, If so its all one company an they may have the records you need. geoff-r
The numberplate does actually start with N and ends in GEF but that's my private plate. Anyway after a little more digging I found the book, I'm ashamed to admit it was filed away properly. I just always thought it was in a wallet like you usually get. I'm going to blame my over efficient filing system and the fact that I had too many cars on the go when I bought it. What a plonker anyway its quite good to know the connections you guys have within the motor trade, thanks for your offers of help. I guess you just can't help idiocy
