glrnet
Some of you will know that on Sunday Mrs glrnet drove the Zed into one of those poxy curbs in a car park Unfortunaley it took some chunks out of the front lip in both the silver (some would say gaffer tape ) and the blue areas. It's fair to say she was in tears (bless), I was remarkably calm and it's fair to say that alcohol may have played a part in my overall chilled persona Anyway, on Monday I decided to have a go at repairing the damage myself, I duly returned from Halfrauds with reams of wet and dry, primer, silver metallic paint (luckily I still had some B17 Azure Blue), Lacquer, Isopon P.40 fibre glass and P.38 filler. Well after 2 and half days of filling, sanding, masking, swearing, spraying, rubbing, more swearing, spraying and lacquering I'm quite pleased with the result. Perfect it is not but unless you look really closely it's hard to spot from a distance, I don't know how long it will last but at least it's presentable and for the cost of £47.00 and some graft it's probably saved me a couple of hundred quid. If it doesn't last too long then I'll buy some silver vinyl wrap from rtbiscuit Here's some pix.
Will370z
Excellent work, can hardly see the damage. Seems you are a natural. Amazing what you can do with that silver tape

Ricey
Very interesting.........I'm about to undertake the same thing on a much larger scale on the rust on my fiesta do'er upper........Biscuit reckons I can get a reasonable finish but I'm not so sure of my own skills! You may be enlisted to provide advice again Graham!

Must get up to you and see those samples should have dropped me a line i could have given some paint tips, but top job
glrnet
I'm more than happy to pass on my limited knowledge but there are guys on here with FAR more knowledge about this kind of thing than me. Very interesting.........I'm about to undertake the same thing on a much larger scale on the rust on my fiesta do'er upper........Biscuit reckons I can get a reasonable finish but I'm not so sure of my own skills!
