sipar69
Hi all, I have an 2009 370 GT Ultimate which has the older DVD-based Sat-Nav. Just looking for some advice on whether it would really be worth updating the software. The update DVDs aren't cheap. I'd like to get an idea of what I'd gain if I updated to the latest version. Is it just a case of updated road info, or would an update also add new features? Any thoughts much appreciated
Ebized
I would be interested in the answer as well........
James B
Sure there must be a way to 'locate' a copy of the data DVD online somewhere.........

Ebized
try this website http://www.satnav-updates.com/index.php ... b0e38b6146 stupid question alert though..in my 370 i cannot find the DVD player for the sat nav? where is it?? Thanks for the link - getting it checked with a Nissan contact. Access to the DVD is behind the cubby behind the driver's seat, but as yet I have not tugged hard enough (it seems) to pull the cubby out to get access without fear of breaking clips or something. Chris`I
I might be wrong, but I'd expect any updates just to be map updates, no new features. Unless there was something very wrong with the software, Nissan wont be going back and updating it. I think most of the discs come from NAVTEQ which is purely map/POI data. waynehardy
Not sure that that website is 'legit' to be honest and personally I've never ordered anything from there. I can envisage that any DVDs you purchase will be copies of original map data discs from Nissan hence the relatively cheap purchase price. I would therefore has doubts as to whether burnt discs would be readable in the 370s DVD player??
Chris`I
You can get official discs straight from NAVTEQ. The other site are selling "backups" which are only legal to have possession of if you own an original disc and are keeping this other copy as a backup. EH 370z
I will speak to a mush I know at Nissan and let you know, the score with what you get on the upgrade on the disc and how you do it
Ebized
Navtech is £159 compared to £40 for the sat-navs website 'back-up' product.....hence the price, no doubt

Both discs will be the same however

I have also attached the part numbers of the Nav units if anyone is interested too. Do you know what the update specs actually include - i.e. do/will they have speed camera locations? I presume the ability to search by post codes for those with pre-connect premium sat navs, remains unavailable? Thanks

As you can see it's pretty non specific in those areas. However I will e-mail Nissan on this but I wouldn't hold you breath. andrew0401
Having taken delivery of my new 370Z GT Roadster - very unimpressed to discover that it is loaded with a map dated as Sept 09 based on Navteq data from 2009Q1. This is the Premium Connect system with the maps loaded to HD - anyone managed to update these? regards Andrew

I appreciate that you may find this response frustrating; however, on this occasion we are unable to meet your expectations. I can confirm that, at this moment in time there is no provision to update the Premium Connect system and we will be unable to provide you with a date as to when a new version of the Connect system will be available. Ebized
Sadly, it is this kind of 'customer care' that drives Nissan's reputation down and does absolutely nothing to encourage people to stay with the brand. I'm not talking about those enthusiasts of us who put up with this inadequacy and will search out answers/parts/info from sources who do bother. But then we represent a small proportion of Nissan sales. But it will certainly put off those who have strayed into the brand only to find aftersales back-up is frankly a pile of rubbish. The repsonse andrew0401 got ought to be conveyed to that person who asked the question about being Nissan fans as the more feedback Nissan gets about its poor aftersales service realy does need to get through. But I'm not including the small number of Nissan dealers who do try to help us out BTW and are members on here or known to help members, but unfortunately there are a large proportion of dealers who have adopted Nissan's culture of 'don't care' that futher undermines Nissan's reputation. Gets off soapbox.
Chris`I
To be fair they wont have it that way for long as they'll start to fit connect premium to more of the range and then the mass of their customer base will be demanding new maps. Also notice the customer service man completely missed the point. He bangs on about updates to CP when its not CP we want updating, its the map data
