SteveRS
What do people recommend i use to clean a set of LMGT4 19" alloy wheels, to remove brake dust etc prior to sealing with poor boys? I've heard wonder wheels is a no go as it acts as an acid to brake down the brake dust. Any help fully appreciated.

Beavis
Only ever used my wheel wash mit with shampoo for washing and Autoglym wheel sealant for afters and they are still good as new.
SteveRS
Thanks guys. Is there a beneift to using a specific wheel cleaner rather than just using shampoo?
Beavis
Thanks guys. Is there a beneift to using a specific wheel cleaner rather than just using shampoo? I just never let my wheels get dirty enough (just fair weather miles) to warrant using anything stronger.
RisingPower
Thanks guys. Is there a beneift to using a specific wheel cleaner rather than just using shampoo? No, they're more aggressive than shampoos. Providing you keep protection topped up you shouldn't need them.
marzman
I use Dodo Juice Mellow Yellow on my Volks (very delicate finish), and it does a great job. I cant get the brake dust off with just shampoo but it comes off very easily with this. http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/dodo-juic ... 8d289fae16
HEADPHONES
An alternative to traditional alloy wheel cleaner is IRON X. I use it on bodywork but it also works wonders on brake dust. You can see it at work on my other thread or have a search on http://www.detailingworld.com to see it at work on alloys I'm quite anal about maintaining my LMGT 4s so they are always well sealed and so for the past 5 weeks have only needed to use water to clean them. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=41303&hilit=Iron+x

coldel
Warm water, car shampoo and a mit for me. Sealed it with GTechniq Wheel Armour which after a week of sitting on my Volks is doing a quite astounding job - very impressed.
