ir_fuel
Ok, i m wondering if it exists. I'm looking for a head unit with the following properties: 1) Must be decent 2) Must be able to connect on the bose amp 3) Must have iPod support (decent one including controls, not FM-radio fake support, got that already now ) 4) Must support the steering wheel controls 5) Must work with the bluetooth phone kit, or, if thats not possible, have one integrated. Single unit or double din doesn't matter, preferably double din so its a straight swap. No gps needed, have the built-in navi which works very well
Rob_Quads
Hmmmmm I think the best you will find will an Alpine 1) Must be decent Most Alpines Are 2) Must be able to connect on the bose amp Possible using Autoleads Adapter 3) Must have iPod support (decent one including controls, not FM-radio fake support, got that already now ) Many models with full Ipod Support. The double din screen being the best 4) Must support the steering wheel controls Bit tricky this one but possible using an adapter which converts the controls to IR signals which then control the HU 5) Must work with the bluetooth phone kit, or, if thats not possible, have one integrated. Doesn't quite do this one although they are just about to release a Bluetooh adapter for all head units[/b]

ir_fuel
I had an alpine in my previous car and loved it. Any suggestion for which one to get? And where to get that steering wheel control adapter?
Rob_Quads
Here is a link for the steering wheel control - http://peripheralelectronics.com/prodDe ... strSearch= There are also instruction on how to connect it up etc. (Although wire colours might be different) As for which units - a few to look at would be Alpine IVA-W200Ri Double Din - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/IVA-W200 ... creen.html Alpine 9850Ri - Budget Single DIN but still very good - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/CDE-9850 ... 850ri.html Alpine 9855R - Medium Single DIN http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/CDA-9855 ... tuner.html (Not quite so good iPod interface)
ir_fuel
wow, those alpines got cheap. I payed 700€ for my mp3 alpine radio 4 years ago
Rob_Quads
yeah its amazing how good value they are now. For a budget system the 9850 is stunning value for money and then £650 for a screen unit is very good. For £800 you get a top of the range flip out unit - only a year ago this sort of thing would have been in the 1200/1400 mark
ir_fuel
Does it make a big difference to the sound, compared to the Bose unit, whilst still retaining the Bose amp?
ir_fuel
if you have the Bose unit you will need the Autoleads PC2-77-4 (Micra 4 speaker Adapter) You posted this in another thread, and you said it will bypass the bose amp. What happens to the sound then? Will it still use the Bose sub?
ir_fuel
or did anyone get this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... AMEWN%3AIT
Pingu2
I have just ordered one of those yesterday, ir_fuel. Along with a PAC steering wheel control adapter.. haven't ordered a new head unit yet though as I am still deciding if I want a screen or not (I'm going to be putting in a screen for my car PC in the nav cubby anyway).. If I decide to get a screen then I'm looking at the Alpine W200Ri, if without a screen then the double-DIN Kenwood DXP-701U (much cheaper!)..
