slimjim
After a few terrible stories on here (specifically SpursMadDave's problem, http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=50770&start=0) I thought I would look into recording front end rear for accidents. Can anyone help me? What is needed.... 1. MOST important is stealth. Don't really want to see ANYTHING inside or outside the car. 2. Front and rear cameras, stealth. So presume hidden behind the grill and in the rear number plate light? 3. Recording on a loop, so it always has say the last 10-20 mins recorded, presuming a HDD would be the best bet? 4. I am not too bothered about actually seeing any footage in the car for the moment. So no need for screens yet.. An LED recording indicator would be good. 5. Always recording when the engine is running/ignition is on. 6. Infer-red cameras would be good to try to work at night (although I am not sure if the rear would work well with headlights pointing at it) 7. Want to put a reasonable budget on it. Say £200? -------------- Something like the "Novus eye plus Twin Camera" looks VERY good but might be a little OTT, both in spec and price. Plus would not be stealth, as it has to sit on your dash Unless I could somehow "hide" it in my headliner? http://www.novus-gps.co.uk/novus_eye_twin_camera.php References... There are a few HDD recorders out there... This kind of thing looks good... but expensive! http://www.mobilevehiclerecording.co.uk/CCTV-Recorder.php Yokomo... I would like to have this even MORE stealth that this, if possible. but I may have to settle for this, as I can't think of any other way to do it... Maybe something like these maybe? Or do people think that is LESS stealth than Yokoma's setup? --------- ANY help/advice/pointers would be great! Cheers peeps...

slimjim
Just recon a little forward thinking is in order Something like this could be thin enough to fit in the head-liner. http://globaltscmgroup-usa.com/products/the-stealth-eye-car-blackbox/ Anyone messed around with the glasses holder for space? got any images of what can/could be fit up there? slimjim
(Sorry if I am using this as a dumping ground for ideas!) "2 Sony Bullet cams (£80 each) and a 12v quad DVR - about £200 IIRC." --Possibility http://www.fastfilms.co.uk/dvx-in-car-bullet-camera-kit.php http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/helmet_cameras.htm Two channel mini DVR http://www.getanalarm.co.uk/cctv/dvr-digital-recorders-/mini-2-channel-dvr-with-sd-card-memory/prod_71.php
Wasso
Why not get in touch with the insurance companies in America. I'm sure there are certain companies which dictate cameras as part of their policy. They may be able to direct you to the cheapest most effective route?
