taras
Hey guys, a quick question... Is it true that GL5 transmission fluids can damage Zed's synchros and only GL4 oils should be used? Thanks Taras
taras
I bought 3L of Silkolene SILKTRAN SYN 5 75W-90 and description says this: Suitable for use in most synchromesh gearboxes and final drives – embraces traditional synchromesh gear oil performance (API GL4) and hypoid axle performance (API GL5) in one product. ZMANALEX
Drawing on my experiences I would only recommend SAE 75W-85-API GL4+ Alex.
taras
Alex, appreciate your advice Thank you! I'd follow it straight away if I didn't spend £70 on Syn 5 already Maybe I should just get GL4 anyway.. I spoke to OpieOils and they said Syn 5 is suitable for both GL4 and GL5 specific gearboxes.. Seems odd to me. Has any one else used Silkolene Syn 5 on Zeds?
