DIY oil change

Hi Chaps,

 

Doing my own oil change next weekend and was after advice on oil,filter,washer and what type of nut is on the sump? I,m going fully synthetic on the oil and have seen various filters on eBay(blitz,hks etc)just any advice really that would be helpful,my mum has a pit in her garage so shouldn't be to stressful,last car I changed the oil on was my mk 1 escort so a bit newer,thanks for the help :)

The sump plug is just a hex head nut. Not sure what the size is think it's about 12mm. You'll need a copper crush washer (I got some on ebay 3 for £2.99). The filter is quite small and there are quite a few available at different price points, I think the K&N ones are ok and they have a handy nut on the end so you can use a normal spanner to tighten and loosen them.

 

The oil type is discussed quite often. I would think most brands with a viscosity of 5W-30 would be fine. I believe people on here have good results with fully synthetic oils. Opie oils web site has a recommended list of oils for the zed and they do a discount for forum members.
