Marios
My insurance renewal has literally doubled from last year with Direct Line - I was paying around 650 for the year now im struggling to find anything under £1000! The only company I found is Admiral for £800 but I used to be with them but left due to being an awful company! Any insurance companies you guys recommend? varley16
elephant, you can go online and put in your details, then amend it all untill its cheap, i put my details in and its came up with £1200 ish, then i changed details and got it to £600, think i made a thread or post on what made it cheaper. off the top of my head i can remember, but adding my lady onto it reduced it by £200, parking on a street instead of garage also made it cheaper by about £100, obviously dont lie to get it cheaper, but there is bits and bobs that do make it cheaper. good luck! Ebized
Have you tried the Chris Knott or Sky - two companies who support the forum. Age/experience/location etc can be critical but given you have a years experience with the Zed, and certainly if you are 25+, you may find some savings
coldel
Mine is insured with Diamond under my wife with me as a named driver, we always insure our cars this way. Job description can have a huge impact, have you changed jobs? I put down 'Director' which is my job level at the office but when I changed this to 'Consultant' which is my actual job title it took £150 off the price! I shall give that a try too Im not looking forward to renewal premiums this year, they have become a joke over recent times. It makes me laugh how we are forced to have insurance by LAW but can only buy it from private companies whose profit levels the government has no control over. I'd bet there are many industries that would like the government to pass law stating that the public must use them. As an analogy, if it was LAW that every car owner in the UK had to register with an owners club for that model - how many free owners clubs would exist? TomS
On the street and with the missus who has only been driving 2 years with 1 claim makes mine cheaper! Can't touch the specialist insurers as it's my first performance car and I'm in a Manchester post code. Theres a page on MSE about how different job titles can change the premium cost. As long as the job title roughly suits what you are doing you'll be fine
choptop
Really depends on your postcode. Keep trying. Best of luck
CaptainSensible
I share your pain, my insurance just went up by nearly 50% for no good reason. Even shopping aroiund only saved me £30! Looks like I'll be be keeping the Zed a while longer as don't want to pay any more for something even more exotic.
MadMac
I'm finding joint multicar policies help out a lot, I will be looking to insure both my mrs and I on the Micra and Z under one policy... seems to knock £400 of the price of both!
Chesterfield
Ha - I just got mine through for the 2004 100bhp transit van that we have between myself and my brother for all the crappy jobs. Its probably done all of 400 miles this year. £860. Thats up from 500 last year. The things probably only worth £1500 at best! What a complete and utter joke. Effalump and Admiral are the same company though so you'll have the same service issues. To be honest mate you've perhaps had a bad experience with Admiral but every insurance company is as 'tarded as the next. It all depends which drone you end up dealing with. Adding the missus deffo reduces it and so does on street or driveway parking..........your average twocer likes a nice quiet little garage to jimmy open your motor..........middle of the street doesn't provide any cover so the statistics will read that your actually more likely to have your car stolen if you garage it.
