Help with lighting - LED / Flourescent NON CAR!

Hi guys and girls, not sure anybody will be able to help but i thought i'd ask.

 

I'm looking for either an LED or flourescent strip light either 2 x 25cm or 1 x 50cm (approx doesnt need to be exact)

 

I need it to be red, blue or purple in colour. The most important thing is that it runs off a normal 240v plug. I can find loads that run off 12v (i.e car neons etc) but i need it to run off a normal socket.

 

any help much appreciated.

I Have one behind a wall mounted TV as a backlight - 3 pin plug (goes into a transformer)

7 colours it will cycle or have just one on whatever you want.

4x 25cm strips use 1,2 or 4

yep that would be great but too expensive. looking for something cheap. im building something to sell on and the light needs to be under £10.

i know, sorry wasnt being petty, that price is plus vat and delivery so total price is £17 which is a shame cos its exactly what im after.

 

Its really annoying if i was working with 12v there is literally thousands of led/strip lights on ebay for about £3 inc P+P

You could always collect if your near one of the stores

 

Or put a group buy up to bring the price down

Just a thought - Cant you get a cheap 12v mains transformer and then some cheap 12v LED's ?

I've looked into that but cant seem to find 12v to mains. they are all mains to 12v

All you need is a 240v to 12v transformer and you can power any 12v LED Strip Lights

Here is a small 30w 240v to 12v tranformer

ive had a look at these and they would be great but the 12v transformers are about £15

if you want to get your hands mucky in electrics you could make what you want for about a quid after scavenging some parts. If you want a manufactured solution then you will probably pay about 15 quid i guess. Not a bad price really considering you are getting the transformer, the wires and the LED strip.
