scubapics
I'm going to fit a facelift steering button assembly into my pre-facelift GT. All the wiring for the buttons should be there as I already have that functionality. My question is, how do I get the button illumination to work? Has anyone done this and can you let me know the secret please :-) Jim
DoogyRev
Might be worth PM'ing Husky, he knows all about lighting
scubapics
It would appear that to have illuminated steering controls I need a facelift spiral cable / clock spring module. Then I need to add an extra wire to the connector to feed to lights in the buttons.
scubapics
Actually, I only need to spiral cable module from a facelift model if I want the button lighting to "dim" when the headlights come on. Otherwise, I can still have the illumination on full if I connect the 8th wire to ground in the steering wheel or I could add a resistor or variable resistor to set the amount of illumination. I think I'll get a facelift spiral cable module though so that the buttons illumination is controlled along with all the other lights.
