Stroudy
Well the 350 is booked in on tuesday to have the cats/exhaust inspected. Just been away for 2 days in it and it behavied immpecabily up to 90% power but the stink in the cabin from the cats is still there after a bit of boot and the sound from the Nismo pipes is still a bit flat - thought a fresh tank of V-Power might sort it but unfort not So.. if it does turn out to be one of the cats gone i'm going to treat it to a set of Japspeed decat pipes which should sit nicely with the nismo cat back system. One thing i did notice was a metallic 'clicking' or 'tinking' sound from the back when pulling away?? Sounds a bit like if the back box was loose and was knocking against something with the gravity of pulling off (as it were ) I've really shook the box about when stationary but it doesnt move at all so cant be that. Anyone else out there with a nismo cat back set-up get this??

Could be clicky axel I had it, only when I pull away over 1500 rpm
Stroudy
Could be that. You said you "had it", has it gone away or been cured??
coldel
I had the clicky back axle problem, try pulling away in higher revs in first, stopping hard on the brakes then putting it in reverse and pulling away - that usually gets it clanking away. My brother had a look at mine and saw that there was no movement on the inner axle but a bit on the outer part so we needed a replacement CV joint. Alex will sort you out a replacement CV part for the clanking if it is the rear axle problem. Really annoying after a while and well worth getting it sorted out. DoogyRev
Could be that. You said you "had it", has it gone away or been cured?? Cured, I took the axle off and re-greased..... click be gone I know Alex sells the new parts, but I thought I would have a go myself.....with a little help from Zugara. To be honest there was plenty of grease in the joints so I don't think it was that. Zugara and I came to the conclusion that it was just the metal face that goes in the back of the hub that is the problem. We put a very light amount of grease on that as well. I have been click free for a month now, and no problems. If it comes back then so be it, I will get a new part from Alex, but if it does not then I have saved myself £
daveparkin
I may be mistaken, but I think the dealers usually dismantle and rotate the spline on the driveshaft 180-degrees relative to the hub, regrease and reinstall?
Maccaman
I may be mistaken, but I think the dealers usually dismantle and rotate the spline on the driveshaft 180-degrees relative to the hub, regrease and reinstall? That is correct as they go for the quick fix. Will return in time so the best solution is to get them replaced.
Stroudy
...well just got back from the garage to look at this issue. Luckily nothing serious or expensive.. After we checked the length of the system whilst up on the ramp (love Millway Specialists, its a proper 'specialist/hands on/cup of tea whilst stood under your own car' type garage) i spotted some drips of condensation coming from the gasket on the last flange before the back box. We were looking at the front of the system so almost missed it at first.. So they unbolted it and saw that the gasket had coroded half way round. It got a clean up and a thick application of exhaust sealant (as the gaskets are difficult to get) and it sounds back to normal after the drive home. Didnt give it anywhere near full reheat as want to let the sealant set but im hoping thats problem solved. I'll order up a new gasket and take it back for fitting as the next step but we'll have to see if this works, it should do for a couple of years at least.. So not a cat problem but I might still go for the decats, prob resonated ones after a bit of research into sound on this forum, but i'll wait and see what happens with the back box issue first. And 27 quid for the job inc an ecu fault code check wasnt bad either. Thanks Jay
Tarmac@TarmacSportz
Decats can be a ball ache at MOT time and sometimes the CEL light can come on. Berk Hi Flow cats go well with the Nismo exhaust and are fully road legal, I can also get Berk Decats if you wanted to go down the Decat route.
