ir_fuel
Just wondering, because of all this "self-adjusting-ECU" stuff we have in our Z, i didnt see any Nismo ECU when checking Nismo performance parts, or did I miss it?
Sarnie
Yes there is one. Does'nt work in a uk zed
lomoto
Yes there is one. Does'nt work in a uk zed apparently just for JDM's never heard any reports etc. about one though I'd like to have one to try for a bit
captint
Why
lomoto
Why to see what it does for the performance of course
captint
Not why do you want one, (posts sent same time) why don't they work on a UK car. I did once speak to MiddleHurst as there was a rumour they were trying to develope once, but they said they tried using the Nismo one for a Skyline, but cloudn't get it to work as well as they wanted so gave up. Guest prescience
The JDM and Euro cars have different ECUs, there either wasn't the will, the budget or the technical expertise for Middlehurst's (who were charged with the task, you are correct) to make it happen. captint
Is it still the UTEC or FCON as the alternative option
Guest prescience
Is it still the UTEC or FCON as the alternative option or Unichip and also others of the more expensive variety
ir_fuel
But i guess none of those are worth using as long as you stay N/A?
Guest prescience
I would say that since they piggyback the stock ECU, you DO have a chance of making some small-modest gains. Evidence in the States with UTEC for example suggests of the order of 15BHp perhaps more in conjunction with any mods you have (unquantified here in UK though in terms of actual before/after dynos) Is that worthwhile in terms of cost/benefit - it's up to you
ir_fuel
Depends on what the cost is
Guest prescience
When there was a UTEC GB going a while ago with Jermaine of TurboXS, the lot i.e. unit, install and tuning was being done for about £525 IIRC. That, in my opinion, was a very good deal - but unfortunately, it fell through for one reason or another and don't ask why
ir_fuel
That would have been a good deal indeed!

Removed
it fell through due to the inability of TurboXS to keep in contact with me, buy some plane tickets and ultimately as they stopped worldwide distribution of their product due to a fault which they had to find and rectify (which ended up just being bad earthing), and since they at the time could not give me a confirmed date on when the distribution would restart. Messing about with too many people's money (including TDi's own full Dyno day that was already booked) for my tastes. That's why. On the other hand, how's Baptist OC members' only similar deal with Sharif from Forged Internals going?
ir_fuel
BTW, just spoke to the 'local Nismo specialist'. Apparently it IS possible to flash a 350Z ECU. There are 2 options, either to send the ECU to Nismo japan where they reprogram it and send it back, or there is a company in the UK they collaborate with who also is capable of doing it. Didnt want to give me the company name dough...
live2themaxuk
wow, interesting. . . . .. i wonder who it could be. . .. .. whos the company in the UK that did the GT supercharged 350z? J
ir_fuel
And i dont think he is talking bollocks. The guy modifies a lot of Nissans, is an official Nissan dealer and Nismo importer, so I guess he knows what he is talking about. Was currently doing a 280hp Z engine rebuild to get about 340hp N/A.
