Revsport
Just paid my insurance renewal was hoping with 3 years NCD it would be under a grand but best i could do at 21 is £1260 with elephant. Still alot but its getting better. Note for young drivers the only insurers i have found that will quote for under 25s for under 2k are elephant bell and admiral who are all in the same group. Ian
Had the same problem when I got mine. Looks like ill be sticking with Bell for a few more years. Did find another company that quoted me £1200 but cant remember who they were at the moment. Adrian Flux also quoted me but they wanted 3.5k

hagar
did you try greenlight insurance (VERY cheap and mod friendy) or A-plan (not their normal brokers but these 01635 874646) again very cheap. I found Adrian Flux (aged 30 with 9 years NCB) to be as competitive as a lead balloon in an egg and spoon race
Ian
Greenlight wont insure anyone under 25 on a zed Adrian Flux wanted 3.5k & thats with 3yrs NCB, 0 points

You must have got them on a bad day as you can see from my post above, and i have 3 points that ran out this year but still need to tell them as they want to know endorsements within the last 5 years
hagar
Ian did you try A-plan with the number I gave you? Its different from the local brokers number as that one above specialises in sports and even modified cars. Another good tip is can you honestly say you have access to a 2nd car or can you add someone like g/f or mother to policy? few years back I was single (hard to believe I know) and added my mum onto my Elephant policy and saved £250, ever since I always add the missus at renewal time and it always saves $$$
captint
Does that make you the named driver then?
hagar
not sure what you mean but yes it leaves me the main named policy holder and the 2nd driver as just a named driver - making my mum the named (not main) saved me big time... captint
How does that work?
Ian
Didnt try A-Plan as I had already sorted the insurance, will be giving them a try at next renewal though. My policy has got my mum added to it, access to another car & limited milage to 5K.
Dave J
When i were a lad (old git at 38 now!!) i found Bennets to be pretty good and also The Prudential. They covered my cars for around a third of what most other companies were charging so that may be worth a try. Dave. ps....Ian, are you the guy i was talking to about your Z in the Esso petrol station in Blackwood around a month or so ago?? I was in a black MR2 Turbo that i was delivering to the airport for a customer.

hagar
Im in Caerphilly. I hate that Pot Noodle advert isn't it corrected for you captint i have no idea but apparantly policies with a 2nd named driver (female) have less accidents so they reward accordingly. Also having 2 cars substantially reduces the risk of you having the accident in the insured car so that saves you too

hagar
weird fact (for me) I did some on-line quotes when I had the zed. I filled in with several insurance people, one even is a girls best friend (precious stone).... Same details, age, job, location, car details the lot only chaning from male to female for the requote All came out more expensive if I was a woman. I then did it a gain where i started out being a woman at first (once I stopped playing with my bits) and again it came out more expensive for being a woman. This goes to show that the insurance people think letting women in sports cars is a bad idea
