It's a 313 and I also noticed that the revs run higher than normal too as mentioned in previous posts.

When you rev her up, it takes a while for the rev counter to drop and seems to pause a little just before it reaches it's resting position.

I am embarrassed to say that I even stalled it 2 days ago when pulling away at traffic lights in 1st gear. The revs do weird things and it doesn't seem to know whether it is coming or going.

I aim to take it into the local nissan garage this week or next before the warranty runs out.

That sounds like it could be an air leak somewhere

I printed off the above threads to help prove that other Zed owners have had similar problems with their cars which in some case have been difficult to solve.

I took the car into the local Nissan garage today and spoke directly to the mechanic chappy who was very helpful and scanned over the printed threads I handed him.

He popped the car into the workshop and hooked it up to the computer. It still came up with no faults found but he reset everything he could which was linked to the possible fault.

It is waiting now for a replacement ECU which should have been changed as part of a recall for my car. He reckons that it may run properly once this has been changed so I guess I will just have to wait until then. At least then it will knock another item off the possible fault list.

Despite the reset today, she is stil running rough and jerky in 1st and 2nd gear.

I will mention the air leak possibility the next time I take it in next week.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, I will keep you posted on any progress.

lordswood mate, havent had mine long, and its been in hidsons most the time ive had it

Ha I used to live in Lordswood,

Did you buy a Black Roadster from them?

Drop me a PM some time,

I hope you get it back and sorted soon, not sure if your aware but Hidsons have only been a Nissan dealer about 12months, their game is Citroen. If its under warranty it may be worth giving Motorline Nissan in tun wells a ring as there a Nissan performance specialist, dealing with GTR`s & Zeds, otherwise I`m sure Mark @ Abbey would be able to assist.

Just noticed that my needle pauses at about 1,000rpm on the way back down to idle.

Mine is going back in on Tues for the juddering @85mph problem. Hopefully this will all get sorted.

Anyone familiar with a Z specialist/tuner near Manchester? I have been told Lockwood & Greenwood before but it looked more like a generic servicing garage from the website - I thought they would at least mention if they specialised in Zeds!

Lockwood & Greenwood used to be a Nissan dealership so the mechanics are Nissan trained. A lot of members in the area use them, myself included and have no complaints. Great service from them, speak to Dave on the service desk and mention the forum

Bit of a thread resurrection here but my throttle pedal is behaving a bit randomly so I thought I would try the reset procedures (not ECU reset) - after loads of searching and reading the Technosquare guide at http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm I can't for the life of me figure out:

On/Off on ignition - I take "on" to mean the last position before cranking, dash illumination on etc, and "off" to be completely off (position 0)

The closed position learning - the directions seem to suggest just turning the ignition on and leaving it for 10 seconds? I can't hear any "operating sound" when doing so.

Apologies for probably stupid questions but it is doing my head in!

you are only around the corner from me darren b,mayb you could have a go in mine, see what you think?

tbh Darren knows more about the Zed than all the Nissan mechanics put together, i think he is probably your best bet and whats best is he normally works for beer

hi guys,

Did you ever get to the bottom of the jitters in 1st/2nd gear?

Seems my 350z 313bhp has got the same problem - judders and jumps forwards in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears at around 2000 revs.

It's been in nissan slough with the problem so many times now i've lost count and they've even had a tech from HQ look at it, but they can't find the problem.

They've had it connected up to the computer and tried changing the air flow meters, checked the connections on the car, resetting it, been told 'it's the way the car drives' and still no joy. Last time they said it ws throttle slap which happened on the 99 primera but still waiting on the literature on that to see what that is.

It's got to the point now where everytime I drive the car it happens and is embarrassing if i have passengers so now getting very hacked off with it, plus getting the nissan micra coutersey car each time ain't thrilling me.

any advice anyone can give is greatly received!

Have they done the throttle reset procedure?

Not sure how but my problem just disappeared after a brief while.

Good luck with your search - I really feel for you on the Micra/Note thing. Shameful. I even demanded a Juke when the Z went in for a service last month - that was barely any better (even though it had a g-force meter, bizarrely)
