Chesterfield
Some topics are just locked, others are deleted (well, moved to an invisible area incase they need to be brought back due to deletion errors etc). Locking is usually undertaken to prevent threads spiraling downward into outright slanging matches, or as a mark of respect for the OP, etc. Deletions take place for resons such as legality of the posting (posting links to illegal software/pornography etc), or on rare occasions threads which just show the site/club in a very negative manner and threads which may cause offence if read, even if now locked. Thats what is usually done, but of course each locking/deletion is undertaken by an individual mod/admin and an interpretation of which is the best course of action for that individual thread. There is no checklist or flowchart which dictates what happens to individual threads. Hope that helps
rtbiscuit
would you like me to create a flow chart or checklist for locking? - OP has used bad language [result] give warning - OP has called a mod a goat fiddler [result] harsher warning; possibly pm them pictures of mod with girlfriend to prove no goat fiddling has occured - OP has told a disgusting joke [ACTION] was it funny {yes} then leave up for the other mods to read {NO} delete thread

Sarnie
Seems Beavis was up to his old Hitler tricks And what old Hitler tricks are these? The usual: You post something People don't like it You retaliate People respond You threaten to ban people/quit as a mod as you 'don't know why you bother' We all move on. Happens every six months or so. I'd give you this link to one of your first tantrums: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic ... ht=goodbye But it's mysteriously dissappeared

Sarnie
harsh but fair +1 It wasn't entirely mean't to be harsh, just that sometimes we could all do with stepping away from the keyboard now and again. Hell, I've lost count of the warnings/bannings I've had or been threatened with, but I'm a good boy now

Chris`I
Hell, I've lost count of the warnings/bannings I've had or been threatened with, but I'm a good boy now We havent lost count You're only still here on the basis that its useful to have a forum vigilante now and again to put certain members back in line And you can all stop finding examples of when Dave has had enough, we have all felt like that at times on the team, so lets give him a break please. Lexx
At the risk of getting a warning/ban here.... -A person moans he's had enough/doesn't care/better things to do. Does this publically. -We all go "oh no, we know its a hard job. Please forgive us. You're like a God to us" etc etc. -He doesn't go. -repeat 6-12 months later. Seems like an "all worship me" exercise.

Husky
I find template emails/posts can be an effective tool in making repeat postings more efficient, i have knocked one up here based on previous threads maybe with some mail merging and a mailing list of offending forum members you could do a mass ban threat in a mere click of the mouse No doubt good news for some of you But tonight i have decided to [resign / bring forward my resignation] from been a moderator from [after / before] Wales. It seems that large numbers of you are not happy and think its ridiculous that i have locked [insert name]'s thread whilst simply put under team review during [this bank holiday weekend / lunchtime / night time]. Its claimed also that this action shows favouritism towards [insert name here]! [insert link to offending topic here] But been a moderator over the past [12 months / 2 years / lifetime] has certainly been the [worst / most painful / harrowing / kinky] time in the four years i have spent here and the struggle to remain [positive / fair / emotionless / murder sentence free] has been very difficult. I have put my [heart and soul / blood sweat and tears / work skyving time] into the day to day running of this place as do all the team and especially in helping to organise the [biggest club event / most amazing meet] the Wales drive out but in recent months i have struggled to maintain my [enthusiam / love / emotional attachment / sexual activity] for the car/forum and even the Wales drive itself and so on that footing and in light of recent comments made its only right to [stand down / qiit / kill you all]. I was going [after / before] Wales anyhow (the team knew this anyway) so its no big deal. all in jest of course
