Are Rays Alloys GT Spec?

Hotpot

Recommended Posts

For insurance purposes, I just want to make sure that I've got everything declared.

I have the GT pack but it's got Rays alloys on the car. Is this part of the spec or do I have to declare a wheel modification?

I'm assuming the Brembo brakes are part of the stock spec.

Cheers.

Both are OEM so no need to declare .......... the Rays were a £1000 option on both the GT and non-GT originally, but later cars came with Rays as standard AFAIK

Cheers. With the insurance quotes I've been getting, I feel like an 18 year old chav with a string of convictions rather than a 46 year old coffin dodger with 12 years no claims and 15 years experience driving a performance car.

Your insurance should be about £250 to £300 -try Privilege or Admiral

Tried Admiral. With my mods (plenum spacer and Uprev) got quoted £988 mainly because of my Manchester postcode. Most companies would not even give me a quote on a modified vehicle.

I actually live in a nice area.

Try Swinton. If your excess is high they also have seperate excess insurance which covers your excess up to £1k in case of an accident which is your fault and you cannot recoup it.

If your car is pre 2006 you have to declare the Ray's as an extra  Found this out on my first Roadster. Better to be safe than sorry  .

I too was supprised at how much the zed is to insure. I live in a good quiet postcode, am nearly 40 and have 18 years NCB. My quotes came in at around 750->800 fully comp. The "specialist" insurers came in at 1300 and 1400.

Im not sure why they dont like the zed, as a comparison, I had quotes for similar value M3 SMG and they all came in at 480quid!

May also be worth giving Adrian Flux a call matey - they seem to have quite a lot of flex in their prices based on my previous experience with them (i.e. they've always matched quotes). Having said that, I am with Admiral now...

I'm actually with Adrian Flux as they gave the cheapest quote at £945!!!!

I'll do a year with them and shop around again as I'll have owned the car claim free for 12 months.

I been driving for 20 years but thanks to living abroad for the last 5 have zero no claims - so my wife rang an insurance company she used years ago and they gave her 3 years NCB! So our current car is insured under that. What is more ridiculous is this latest ruling that women have to pay the same as men in insurance...that'll bump it right up.

:scare: That's mad. My insurance is less than yours and I'm 23...

I stuck in a 350z under my name with zero NCB and it came out at £800 fully comp no excess.

I heard somewhere that claiming to have the car parked in the garage makes the premiums higher than claiming it parked on the street.

I was quoted more for having the car garaged than on the street, when i asked why the lady couldn't give a reason. I'm sure they just make it all up anyway

I've been running through insurance quotes for my first zed and they come out cheaper on a driveway then in the garage, and then cheaper again on the street than on the driveway. Crazy and it's still £1200 fully comp but its the Manchester postcode :(

The reason I heard was because the number of car thefts where the thieves have targeted a specific car that is garaged, then broken into the house and stolen the keys to take the car cleanly, is by all accounts on the up.
