StephenG
OK. Quick update to date. Vortech installed. On base map (or whatever map Baptist had it last on). Car runs OK, but big holes around 5000 revs up. Take it to Abbey to get it tuned. They have problems trying to get R4 software talking to SS box. If they write values the box trips out, in 'limp mode' limiting the engine to 4000 revs. They cannot see any live values. I pick up the car, attempt to get the comms going myself. I get a USB to serial for my laptop, install the software, and attach it this afternoon. And I see values live! Hence must be some sort of problem with Abbey's laptop? I don't have the time (or balls) to attempt to write any values down to the SS box, and I'm not sure how to UPLOAD them anyway (can't see that option on R4 software). So - here's my progress so far... pics and videos in following post :

StephenG
well, it might be. What I don't know yet is wether we can write values OK, but it's looking much more promising. What I really should do is give a BIG thankyou to both Dorian and Matt from CPRacing - they've been a massive help. Thank you both Stephen

Cprace1
Wow mate your S/C sure sounds noisier than mine We have noticed that on the Zs that some are louder than others, nothing wrong with them, we have even sent a few back to Vortech to have the checked out and nothing is wrong. I had a S2000 customer which purchased a Vortech it was by far the loudest I have ever heard he sent it back to Vortech and it checked out fine

StephenG
Great to know Can anyone tell me how you upload and download maps from the R4 software? Might reconnect the laptop and see if I can 'read' the settings from the box.... but it's not obvious (to me!) on the software how to read it. Guest prescience
In the Maps window, its the top two leftmost buttons. Also, on your PC, the sofware will be installed under Start->Programs->R4 Controller, from that menu run-up R4 Help, there's quite a lot of useful info. there - including the RS232 cable spec! StephenG
Just been reading that, very helpful. A few questions though; 1. What's 'PWM' stand for? 2. Is Output B the aux fuel pump? Because both the map Matt sent me and the map Dorian sent me have the fuel pump start pressure (Output A) at 0 and the run time at 0 as well... confusing 3. Is Output A not used then? 4. The big difference between the customer database Matt sent me and the database Dorian sent me is that the 'over pressure' on the Output setting is -3.99 on the stock map and 17 on the db Matt sent me. These sound wildly out from eachother - so does this value do anything?
Guest prescience
1. Pulse width modulation. 2. Output B is for controlling aux fuel pump 3.Output A is not used AFAIK. Anyway, those values on the right should all be zero. 4. Confused here - I thought Matt sent me a map which I sent to you - did he send you another? I don't understand that 17 either because I had assumed that referred to manifold pressure (which would never be achieved); maybe it refers to fuel pressure? Matt will need to advise. What is mode for Outbut B set to in both maps Over RPM AND Pressure?
Cali350z
hey everyone I'm new here, I have a 2005 350z they just installed a V2 vortech supercharged on in but something is wrong with it they already double check everything and all looks fine. when I turn the car on the idle rpms are really low around 500 or less the check engine light comes out on my dash board and when they connect the scanner it comes out a code on the MAF. I unplugged the MAF cable from the SS control box and plug it back to original and everything works fine. would it be that the SS box needs a reflash? have any one had this issue before? Neilp
This threads not been posted on for 5 years and don't think the members are still here. Best bet is to post an introduction thread stating your location and we can direct you to a forum approved/used specialist close to you. Well done for using the search though. Some people find it hard to grasp but I think something like this wouldn't get any moans for a new thread being created.
evilscorp
what maf sensor are you using? i know most tuned cars with over 350hp tend to need an upgraded one. I presume it was the full v2 kit, these should come with a base map for any car,who installed it for u? also heard most vortechs prefer to have the cars idle raised slightly(they rattle less and run better.) Cali350z
thanks for your response, finally everything got fix. the control box (SS box) or the piggyback that the kit comes with had a bad fuel map. it got send to split second and they reflashed it. Now is running like a champ. one question on my oil gauge before I had the supercharger it was 60psi while the car was in full stop, now when I'm on stop the oil psi goes down to 30. is this something bad? even tho once it starts running it goes up to 60 besides that everything runs fine. Neilp
The oil pressure should always be around 30psi on standing at idle rpm
Cali350z
sounds like I'm on the right track. I'm about to. hangs the pulley to a 3.12 a little more boost after that I'm gonna take to get tune and dyno hope I get good results out of it. can't wait
