Daryl
I noticed yesterday that the inside of my passenger front wheel is almost bald! When i had new rear tyres fitted in August last year,i had an alignment check done, and they said it was fine. Have no idea why this has happened. As my new wheels are going on soon, would it be best to see whats what with it? Also, can anyone recommend me a place that is near Milton keynes or Brackley please

Have you excluded a slow puncture? Secondly the alignment is only a static snapshot and does not show what is happenning dynamically so if we asume that all your suspension hardware (arms, dampers etc) and tyre integrity are sound, the fault could most likely be with your bushes, particularly the compression arm bush or even the ball joint. Inspect these for cracks, tears, shrinkage or play. The telltale sign will be unequal caster readings and some disparity in toe and camber in front geo. if you repeat the alignment check just after putting the new tyre(s) and infact if you repeat again after a short drive these readings will be different knocking is a late sign
Daryl
Well it wasnt a full geometry check, merely a laser alignment to makesure everything was pointing in the right direction, ish. I cant even rule out that it was there before, but id like to think that i would have noticed something like that. But i do do 300+ miles a week,so even a small discrepancy will take its toll quickly
Daryl
Well i went to Tyres Northampton yesterday (where Evo magazine gets its cars sorted for tyres and geo) and what a difference its made to the feeling of the car. I was always impressed with the way the car handled, but its even better now! It cost me £100 but i think that its well worth it. Though a couple with a Q7 Audi disagreed when they were told that they would need to have it done for £120. They were spending £1000 there for tyres anyway, and the bloke was trying to haggle the price down to £100,before asking his wife, who said no its fine. This despite the technician saying that they will eat tyres quicker etc etc. When the technician left, they were saying how its aload of rubbish etc etc,and how if there is only a couple of places with the equipment, then it cant be that much of an issue!
