Traktion
lmao! I don't think there are any easy gains from chipping IIRC, unless you have a few mods which can be taken advantage of (cats, exhaust, FI etc).
captint
Putting in a FCON or UTEC ecu must have some performance benefit, there can be no way that Nissan had pre-tuned the vehicle to the max
Removed
not much in NA gains though, yeah you can surely gain 10-15hp by fine tuning your existing NA mods, but that's not on top of what said mods claim to add... although if you want to go FI down the line and get a utec half way in NA guise, it can only do you good, if tuned correctly! captint
Good call. I would say it's always highly doubtful that you can achieve claimed HP gains with NA mods, some yes, but their claims are always a tad excitable
captint
Although that said my z does seem to have better throttle response and acceleration since the bits were done, but them it could be the noise + me wanting it to feel better
Removed
i definitely felt the difference once i took off the plenum, and can't wait to put something else on it, be it a spacer or the Cosworth one But the UTEC is definitely on the cards, some time
charlied
Although that said my z does seem to have better throttle response and acceleration since the bits were done, but them it could be the noise + me wanting it to feel better I know what you mean. Rolling road print outs suggest my GT4 is 4 bhp down on standard so i had considered an fcon to help.
flirt
thanx for the advice ppl being thick here, what a plenum? how do i remove this?
Stew
The plenum is the silver bit on top of the engine that sits below the stut brace. The plastic cover (I think it says Nissan 3.5l on it) covers half of it and the rest is exposed. I think it distibutes air into the cylinders or something. Change it or fit a spacer and you are meant to be able to tell the difference. Do a search to see pics and peoples opinions!
Removed
it's the big alumimium part you see above your engine cover you don't just remove it, you swap it for something else
M13KYF
it's the large metal thing on top of your engine behind the plastic cover. It distributes the air entering the engine basically guide here for removal and fitting http://www.kinetixracing.com/images/V4% ...
