HassanZ
i was just wondering...if you drive past an overgrown bush with some of the thin branches sticking out and scraping along the side of the car, what's the possibility of it scratching the paintwork? Thanks, Hassan
Simon+Kat
very strong possibility mate, i took my old Celica to Cornwall one year and the bushes in the narrow lanes scratched it to death!
UNABASHED
that is the most randon question I've heard on here! Are you planning on driving through some hedges and want to know if you will be safe or have you already driven through a hedge?

Oh man that must have been painful!! Did you get them sorted or you just learned to live with them? Were they just standard leaves and twigs or thorn bushes? HassanZ
that is the most randon question I've heard on here! Are you planning on driving through some hedges and want to know if you will be safe or have you already driven through a hedge? Haha! I expected to receive that response! Basically at work the ground is not maintained at all. Between the Walls and the tarmac ground, plants are beginning to grow from between the cracks and branches (thin twig-like plants). We park against that wall so there is a high risk of scraping past these plants as it is a quite narrow pathway. I've trimmed down the area I normally park in but I ain't guaranteed to park at the spot all the time. There's a bit I drove through whilst squeezing through a colleagues car and the wall and some of these twig-like things dragged across the cars side. They're quite thin but hard enough to hear it hitting the bodywork. They're flexible so I can imagine them bending and the curved area having contact with the car. I was just curious as to the likliness of it resulting in damage. I checked the bodywork but could not really see as it is very filthy. Standard OEM leaves and twigs i think mate, no special edition thorns etc

evest
When you have cleaned your car , you might see faint scratches on it where you engaged the offending bush. As long as you can't feel your finger nail catch on the scratches, then they should polish out. I would be wary of things like T-Cut as they can be quite abrasive and the paint on the Zed is thin(ish). Try some like Autoglym super resin polish - this should buff them out nicely. Been using Meguirs 'paint cleaner' on the Z with favourable results on swirl marks.
Chris`I
As the others have said - brushing against bushes will be bad for the paint. I'd rather take the time to clear the bits I park in bit by bit than have to use a polisher now and again just to get rid of the scratches. And yes, old "proper" T-Cut is very bad for Zed paint as it was designed for older oil based paint. New "clearcoat safe" T-Cut isnt anywhere near as strong but I'd still rather use a polish such as Poorboys SSR or Dodo
Zugara
I always find driving on the road helps. Its that black stuff with the white line in the middle of it. And there aint nothing wrong with an over grown bush either.

Try this: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/what-does-polishing-do.html Thank you for your advice. I'll have a look when I've washed the car. I never use T-cut, I don't trust it at all! I use Autoglym super resin polish, which I didn't really notice an improvement on swirl marks? I had a scuff on my rear bumper which my colleague removed using G3 and a machine polisher (I work for a automotive company based across the Midlands), the scuff disappeared completely! Do you think this was safe for the thin 350z paint? How long do I have to wait till I can wax/pressure wash that area? I've been told to let the surface cure before applying anything to it by another friend. I have attached pictures of this offending bush LOL!! http://i860.photobucket.com/albums/ab16 ... photo4.jpg http://i860.photobucket.com/albums/ab16 ... photo3.jpg http://i860.photobucket.com/albums/ab16 ... photo2.jpg http://i860.photobucket.com/albums/ab16 ... photo1.jpg Regards, Hassan
