Dano190485
hey all just brought autosol for cleaning my exhaust after advise on here, just wondered if its ok to also use them on my rays alloy wheels or is there something better to use? rtbiscuit
don't use it on your rays, it will start to strip the paint away as the rays are painted and not bare metal.
bounty78
the autosol is too abrasive for the alloy wheels..the lacquer will start peeling..not sure about polished lip wheels though
rtbiscuit
if you wanted to do the polished lip of an AM wheel then something like megs metal polish would be better. but still not to be used on the rays.

choptop
Wonder Wheel or similar
rtbiscuit
autosol is brilliant for exhausts, even worth doing a final finish with megs metal polish which is even finer. as for wheels treat it like car paint, speak to tim at envy for advice on wheel cleaning, things like bilberry spring to mind, but he'll have a better range of options for you. then a good coat of wax on top. i use rimwax. but others are available as well. M13KYF
best thing to clean your wheels with is something like bilberry wheel cleaner
cmck13
Once you get them clean seal them with this. Finish Kare 1000p high temp polish, this polish is designed specifically for wheels and exhausts (shiny ones) it its temp resistant to over 250+ deg C. Not forgetting that brake dust burns out at this temp hence its specific use.
jollyranchers
i once made this schoolboy error many years ago and damaged the paint on my alloys Only to be used on polished lips with no laquer
