ikarus
I've taken the car out for a few runs recently after not really driving it over the winter (apart from around the block). I noticed that the water temp needle went up pretty high when i was in trraffic and would drop again once i was moving. I was alarmed so i checked my coolant levels when it had cooled down, and it was low. So, i topped it up and bled it. A few trips later all was well but now it's started again. Seems like i'm losing coolant somewhere, anyone had this or know where to start looking? Help appreciated, i need to get this sorted quite promptly.. evest
Has the coolant level dropped again? That would obviously indicate a leak. If not, then problem elsewhere - is the radiator fan working when you are stationary? Somebody with more technical knowledge will hopeful assist further! ikarus
Yeah I'm pretty sure the fluid is down again. I'm just not sure how to determine where the leak might be. Fan is working ok, i think it is fluid as the heater blows cold when its stationary and then runs hot again when the revs are up.
Ekona
Look on the ground after it's been parked up overnight, see if you can see anything. Check all hoses and clips, rads etc. Basically just follow the coolant system around and see if you can spot anything.
