advancedme
With our good friend Mr 420Z we are now preparing to get 1000bhp from the VQ engine! This thread will be following us as we go from 656bhp @ the hubs ( http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/vide ... 8&comments ) to a target of 900bhp @ the hubs 656bhp was achieved at 17psi on Shell Vpower without NOs. After the refresher rebuild we plan to run 27psi with race fuel and then "top up" the rest with Nos as Mr 420Z has requested :-) So far we have baselined the car on the Dynapacks and have now stripped the whole powertrain out to get her ready for 1kbhp! On the cards is Ceramic coated manifolds & Turbo Turbo blankets Cosworth 290deg Camshafts with upgraded DLC tappet shims All new Bearings (mains & Big ends, thrusts) Cylinder head rebuilds seats, valves etc Block preparations Wizards of Nos full wet system Remap of the AEM/GEMS Hybrid engine management system So far we have found: Brian Crower Crankshaft = Perfect Brian Crower Connecting Rods = Perfect CP 100mm pistons = Perfect Main bearings = 55% wear Big ends = 65% wear Thrusts = Severly damaged Tomei Camshafts and Nissan Tappets = 90% perfect rear cam lobes damaged on nose slightly Turbos = Perfect We are putting the bearing wear down to an occasion when the car suffered low oil/starvation and the cam wear to the Non DLC tappets and oil starvation. Even so it shows that with sufficient cooling the VQ block will handle power in excess of 750bhp without issue. Photos to follow :-)

BladesGrant
Has it got a whole new dash as well with a digital screen??
Stew
Brilliant thread. Can't wait for this one. Will the ceramic coatings etc be enough to keep the heat down? Is this just a numbers exercise or is the car going to be used in serious anger?
advancedme
A few photos for starters. He has indeed gone for the Racepak digital logging GPS dash along with a full range of AEM gauges which will all be logged by the Racepak. The car is sporting one of our custom 85mm Radiators for cooling along with special coolant mix, extra bleeding points and mahoosive SPAL fans. Mr 420Z is not a numbers man! He drives the car like he stole it so it will certainly see some anger. We would never recommend this set-up for a track day car however he will definatly be going to Santa Pod to see what times it pulls. Should easily be in the 10s but only time will tell! We cant wait either!

advancedme
This photo shows the damage on the Thrust washers. We are going to modify the electronics so in the future we will be able to start the engine without having to have our foot on the clutch loading up the Crank Thrust washers. advancedme
A few photos of our progress. Just waiting on some trick parts from the US to carry on building her :-) You can see the bearing wear on mains & big ends in some of these photos. Nasty marks but remarkably appeared to live with it!

advancedme
Measuring Main bearing clearances. All great with a variance of 0.0025" accross the 4. The one with the tightest clearance had the most wear on the old bearings ;-)
