Is changing the Z gear knob a simple un-screw?

In essence Chris' idea is the same as the guide.

There is a drop of threadlock on the knob, thus making it rather tight and hard to unscrew, once you managed the initial twist-off, the rest should be easy.

You deffo need to hold the gear shft stable, because if you don't you might end up damaging the syncro-mesh (read as "cause expensive fix")

Ah Dave, that si exactly the same reason I changed my knob, for a lovely KTA solid stainless

In my case I found a few turns in opposite directions loosened it off, but it was still quite stiff. The now came off in one piece and I even sold it on eBay for £50 ;)

 

Chris have you photoshopped your knob as it looks HUGE :lol:
