im00
As per the title really. Does it just unscrew? Cheers.
Toon Chris
Yes, although it will be tight so you need something to clamp on to the shaft. Mole grips or heavy pliers wrapped around some cloth should do it.

im00
http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Tutorial:Shift_Knob_Removal_and_Replacement Crikey!...a fourteen step guide! With cut lengths of rubber hose and mole grips and take some sandwiches...wow. Cheers though Dave. Does this mean that Toon Chris's idea might not work? BulletMagnet
In essence Chris' idea is the same as the guide. There is a drop of threadlock on the knob, thus making it rather tight and hard to unscrew, once you managed the initial twist-off, the rest should be easy. You deffo need to hold the gear shft stable, because if you don't you might end up damaging the syncro-mesh (read as "cause expensive fix")
spursmaddave
The guide is just to look at, it really isn't that much to worry about Just hold the shaft nice and tight, give your knob a good hard tug and you should be able to screw it off quite easily Worth the effort too

Neilp
Mines was a nightmare. Had to get a mate to hold the shaft while I twisted the knob with a pair of grips on it and two hands

BulletMagnet
Yeah, in most cases you may destroy your original knob

Toon Chris
Ah Dave, that is exactly the same reason I changed my knob, for a lovely KTA solid stainless In my case I found a few turns in opposite directions loosened it off, but it was still quite stiff. The now came off in one piece and I even sold it on eBay for £
